Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Finally, the car had the retractable spoiler replaced with a fixed unit.
Leading evidence: 'Replace with a' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). My plan is to take the door apart, adjust the window.

Just check continuity and replace the bad ones or all of them if u want.

It looks like just replacing the door switch is the best option, ill check into the AOS test.

Does it make sense to plan to replace the door lock mechanism, with the three microswitches?

Suggestion
Test my engine pressure using the adapter and manometer periodically (easy, peasy) on my 2000 C4 Cab and the results are (so far) always below 5 which indicates that the AOS is ok, despite also experiencing some oil consumption but no visible smoking.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello, first time Pcar owner here, 2002 911 hardtop. MB, BMW, Rovers mostly previously.
A couple questions for the group, The engine, 99k rebuilt about 40k ago, burns oil a bit. not enough that it affects the oil level, but enough that you can smell it sometimes. How would I test the AOS? Or, is there somewhere else I should be looking?
The drivers door, hardtop, window retracts only sometimes when you pull the door handle. Plus, it looks like the window has rubbed the frame a bit from being opened with the window not lowered. My plan is to take the door apart, adjust the window. Does it make sense to plan to replace the door lock mechanism, with the three microswitches?
Finally, the car had the retractable spoiler replaced with a fixed unit. I notice that there is no button on the dash to manually operate the original spoiler. Is that normal? Or, did some models not have a button?
Thanks in advance.
Search dor the aos testing. U take an old oil cap and put a fitting in it. Then use a manometer for a reading.
The mircro switches r prone ti fail. Just check continuity and replace the bad ones or all of them if u want.
Switch for the spoiler is down at the fues panel door. Drivers left foot in the well.
To test your AOS by yourself, buy
one of these adapters
from TexSquirrel (or make one yourself if you've got the skill/motivation to do so) AND buy a manometer from AMZN (if you don't already have one or can't borrow one).
I bought them. Test my engine pressure using the adapter and manometer periodically (easy, peasy) on my 2000 C4 Cab and the results are (so far) always below 5 which indicates that the AOS is ok, despite also experiencing some oil consumption but no visible smoking.
Between 4-7 should be ok, over 7 suggests a problem w/the AOS, in which case you should consider buying/installing a UAOS from Porschetech3 that you can find
here
.
Good luck!
Thanks for all the help, ideas.
It looks like just replacing the door switch is the best option, ill check into the AOS test.
I have the Bentley manual, has been very helpful so far.
