Suggestion

I had tightened the clamp that is referred to above, whereas I should have left it lose to allow for the tip to be aligned once the muffler was reinstalled.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently got Darin to send me modified cans and did the install. Since I was dropping most of the exhaust I decided to replace most of the hardware. I have 2 issues and don't know if anyone has had this problem. 1. One of my exhaust tips doesn't seem to line up correctly after install. (I know a picture will help and I'll post one tonight). But basically when it was all reinstalled, my passenger side tip is at least a half inch lower than my drivers side and I don't seem to be able to move anything to get it to where it used to be. 2. I purchased the Exhaust pipe to to support bracket clamp (and all other hardware from Pelican). Part number 999-511-087-00. When fully tightened down, the clamp is very loose. It just sort of hangs there rather than clamping the tips to the pipe. Has anyone had either of these issues and do you have any suggestions? TIA

POST 2Original post

One tip lower than the other is often a result of sagging motor mounts. Are you sure you didn't have the same issue before?

Attached are two pics...drivers and passengers sides to show the difference in the two exhaust tips.

Looks like it just needs some adjustment by rotating the joint where the clamp that Frank pointed out is used.

POST 7Original post

^^^ This. I had the same when I reinstalled my mufflers. I had tightened the clamp that is referred to above, whereas I should have left it lose to allow for the tip to be aligned once the muffler was reinstalled.

POST 8Original post

on closely looking at those two photos it is obvious that second photo one tip is twisted. Slacken off the bolt which attaches the tip and tilt the tip to the left so you do not see the bolts behind. Also you should see straight into the pipe. The bad one is set so you see one side of the inside of the pipe. If they don't line up. Do the same to the top photo so they look the same.

POST 10Original post

loosen all the clamps and then put a broom handle in the tip and move it when you want it.

POST 11Original post

This is not the correct tip to muffler clamp. "Part number 999-511-087-00. When fully tightened down, the clamp is very loose. It just sort of hangs there rather than clamping the tips to the pipe."

POST 12Original post

Frank is right. The clamp in the photo is for clamping the cat (post-cat side) to the engine support bracket.
