So what I'm hoping for is that there is some other more-common vehicle that uses the same magazine, for which I'll be able to find one for a more-reasonable price.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My '02 came with a CD changer that doesn't have a magazine. Ebay is littered with magazines for other cars for $15 or $20, but all I can find for the 911 are complete CD changer assemblies or a few magazines that are priced like they are gold plated. I don't NEED one, but I'd like one. Partially because I might use it some day, and partially because I'm slightly OCD about the magazine being missing. So, I don't really want to pay more than $30ish for one. The Porsche part number is 993-645-113-00. https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/o...ne-99364511300 . (Apparently the '03 and newer cars have a different part number that starts with 996.) In this thread, one poster mentions that the cartridges for his '03 are the same as the cartridges for his ML350. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...-trunk-cd.html . So what I'm hoping for is that there is some other more-common vehicle that uses the same magazine, for which I'll be able to find one for a more-reasonable price. Or maybe one of you guys will be like "oh hey, I have a pile of compatible magazines here, I'll mail you one for $30". Either way.

POST 2Original post

The changer itself is a Porsche-branded Becker unit that was used in Mercedes and Porsche products of the same vintage, for sure. I can't verify this next part because it's based on my faulty memory, but, I can almost swear that Ford "Limited" SUV's from the late 90's early 2000's had the same unit... If you don't care if it doesn't have a Porsche logo on it there's tons on eBay, still. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Cadillac-Sev....c100903.m5276

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Are you sure that's the right magazine? This auction has a pic of a CDC3 with the cartridge in it and it looks different: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-CDC....c100005.m1851 Here's an auction that looks like it's got the same magazine, and the part number on the front of the magazine is XA-T6. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ferrari-Son...wAAOSwQY9eRIPu

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

There were only a couple of hits for XA-T6 or XAT6 on Ebay, and they were $50-$60ish. One of the auctions indicated that this cartridge was compatible with the Sony CDX-T60, T62, and T65. Searching for variations of those part numbers was not fruitful. Nor was trying to figure out what cars that CD changer was installed in. Apparently this CD changer was also sold as the Becker 2660. No luck finding a cheap magazine searching for that either.

POST 5Original post

I have a couple left from my 2003 C2 and one left from my 2000 ML 320 (this should fit yours). This Mercedes unit (7-12-00 N PO5101) from the 2000 ML, did not fit the MOST unit in the 2003 C2. see attached picture The differences are the early one: 1 has internal support frames 2 opens to the right 3 is larger and has more squared off corners

I just removed my original cd changer from my '99 - you're welcome to the whole thing for $50. Perfect working order.

Hard to tell from the angle in the pics you posted but does the one from the ML look like the Sony one in my post above?

I appreciate the offer, but if I'm gonna spend much more than $30, I think I'll probably just go with one of those Yatour digital media player things that plugs in through the CD changer port. That said, I guess I could keep the magazine and just try to sell the changer on Ebay. $50 including shipping? Are the changers prone to failure? Is it something that I should keep around in case mine fails?

Yep, shipping inclusive. Can even throw in a bluetooth adapter that you can solder in if you have an aux input (any head unit except CR-210). I recently upgraded my audio and have all the OEM parts that I'd sell.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What the heck, I'll take it for $50. I'll send you a PM.

POST 12Original post

Can't believe it took you that long to say yes.

Would it be too juvenile if I said "that's what I told your mom"? LOL

POST 14Original post

I responded because I was going to offer you my cd changer if jobyt had not offered his. Glad I did not end up dealing with a sixteen year old acting like a juvenile.

Awww, and here I was, hoping that my charm and boyish sense of humor would win me friends, not the opposite. Not gonna lie, I love dishing out dad humor, and mom jokes are a close second.

Member Joel... contacted me thru a PM yesterday with the same issue. I will offer my CD-3 changer to him at N/C.

It seems what you lack in appreciation for low-brow humor, you make up for in generosity. Kudos. Speaking of low-brow humor.. My kids: Dad, I'm hungry. <I give my kids that "guess what you just earned yourselves" half smile.> Me: HI HUNGRY, I'M DAD. <Kids cringe.> I use that on an at-least weekly basis. Also worth tons of grins.. that's what she said. In fact, my girlfriend got me a shirt that says: That's what. -She I should go find that and wear it today.
