Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here in Upstate New York the sun finally broke out of the clouds. While keeping social distancing a ride was really needed. So went to scout out some Local Trout Streams before we break out the fly rods. Here are some pictures, maybe it will help get us through any other day. The last is pretty unique, never on my life would I think there could be such a sign.

POST 2Original post

Nice Car Nice stream Scary sign... Thanks! Be Safe.

POST 3Original post

Surprised they didn't print it also in Spanish, Greek, Russian, etc.

POST 5Original post

I took a couple of short drives during the last few weeks, rationalizing to myself that I was social distancing from others if I drove by myself. My brother last Saturday did the same thing on his motorcycle. On the way back, he fell off his bike, broke some ribs and collar bone. Got taken by an ambulance to a hospital in which he is still staying. So, the solitary ride turned into close exposure to several teams of medical providers and ambulance drivers. On top of that, he is using much needed medical care that could have been needed for the virus thing with other people. He is now in a hospital likely closer to people with Covid-19 and his chances of getting it is that much higher. I am not preaching to you guys. It's just that there is another perspective on the solitary drive.

After some disagreements between the state of Ohio health department and our county health department we are allowed to play golf, as long as we stay 10’ apart and do not bunch up at the tee or on the course. So the 996 has become a way for me to get my golf clubs to the course and take a nice walk with friends (not too close). And it lets me run the car a little bit too. About once a week I take it to Costco which is about a 20 mile round trip. Hopefully that is enough to keep it happy until I can put some real miles on it again. Agreed on the million reasons right now to be careful and not end up in the hospital. Be safe and stay healthy everyone! Daryll

I haven't fished NY state yet, it's on the list. Looks like a nice hatch going on in the stream! I can't wait to get to my waters in the PNW for some flyfishing too! Keep a tight line. Nick

His choice in vehicles was a bad one, was he pushing it a little? I hope he's ok...

s He rode over a bad patch of road and the bike went out from under him at about 30 mph. It was not aggressive riding. Just one of those things when you're on a bike. Even in a car, such as a Porsche, one can easily spin the car, gets rear ended, drives into a ditch, etc... It happens when you drive.

I gave up on bike riding in the mid 80's after a close call...Tourist coming from the opposite direction turned left and stopped in the middle of my lane to look at a map forcing me off the road into the gravel doing 60mph Fishtailing my "Daytona Special for about 200 yards was not fun!

Sorry to hear about your brother but you are 100%. People should stay home unless they need something essential to sustain life, and nothing else. Recreational fishing is not one of them. I've been home for nearly a month and only went out to get groceries.

POST 15Original post

I'm getting withdrawal symptoms for not driving my car, going to head out around lunch time and take it for a long drive! Twisties here I come!

POST 16Original post

I went for a drive a few days ago, empty roads made for a very enjoyable drive.

Nobody seems to bring up a major variable: Population Density We live in a rural area. We are 2.5 hours west of NYC. I think that makes a big difference on the risk assessment of becoming a burden to others. My round trip was 58 miles. I stopped at 5 fishing access points, no human contact, in fact, I only saw one individual fishing, several hundred feet down stream. In the course of the drive, the only people I saw were a couple at a gas station and some Amish farmers way out in thier fields plowing and planting. I personally wouldn't have driven into a densely populated area. Most all businesses are closed here and traffic is minimal. I see this post which was meant to be a stress reliever turned in to S#@! Storm of views. Stay safe everyone. Just to show you how concerned folks are that live in an area that is in between us and NYC, this area is the heaviest fished water system in the Eastern United States. Geographically located less than two hours of Philadelphia and NYC. Here is a public service announcement. http://web-extract.constantcontact.c...D1586283899000

There you have it. We were talking about keeping distance and enjoying freedom in a safe way. That was my point all along. Those that can't understand this, need to stay home. All the best to you and your wife. Those on the frontlines are the real heroes. This is no joke or a hoax. Hope that did not come across in my replies to our Canadian friend.

POST 20Original post

This is really scary stuff. Here in Utah, we still do not have a statewide stay at home order. Our cases have been minimal in comparison to many other areas, and our state has been commended for how we are handling this pandemic. Many golf courses are open, hiking trails, biking trails, parks etc.. people are not permitted to play on any playground equipment, but most parks are still open. There are some exceptions. A lot of traffic still. Not near as much of course, but not like pictures I've seen in other areas of the country. I still take drives for sanity. I think so much depends on where you live, and how your community is dealing with it. Our state just mandated today, that all people entering our state provide a declaration of where they have traveled in the past two weeks. This is by air or car. The individual will get a text once they enter the state to complete the declaration. That said, I just found out yesterday that the nursing home my 88 year old mother is in, has three nurses and two patients test positive. I haven't been able to see her for over a month now. I do hope I can see her again.

POST 21Original post

There are so many unknowns about this that to me it's best to stay home unless absolutely necessary. I read that the virus can stay suspended in the air for up to 3 hours after a sneeze. The supermarket may be empty but you don't know who was there just before you got there, and what they touched. A tiger in the Bronx Zoo has tested positive for the virus and I'm pretty sure people were social distancing from it. I passed a Wild By Nature store (similar to Whole Foods) yesterday and the parking lot was full. I don't think that a $30, 3 lb organic chicken is going to keep you safe. On a positive note, I've become much more conscious of not wasting food or paper goods.

POST 22Original post

I look forward to taking mine out. I did again today, dropped the top and just cruised around. It was nice.

POST 23Original post

Took the wife for a drive yesterday, first a stop at Whataburger Curbside service, then a picnic in the car under a nice shade tree. Then out for about a 50 min drive. Found a nice new road that was fun. On the way back had a local constable follow me for about 9 miles, he even pulled into my neighborhood behind me, turned off about a mile before my house. All said and done, wonderful drive with my wife!

POST 24Original post

I pushed mine out of the shop to do some welding on something else. Then pushed it back in. Now it’s snowing. I’m so looking forward to going for a spin.

POST 25Original post

Also took the car around the block to beat off the cabin fever. Never breached the 2m quarantine distance once.
