Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Previous owner may have been in accident and repaired incorrectly.
Leading evidence: 'Repair incorrectly' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check outrageous prices' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Close up, the gutter guard are the exact same as the mesh used by Pelican parts and other makers which are sold for at least $250.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

....why on tiptronic cars the center rad is there but it's blocked fully by the inner bumper cover liner?
Mine has the rad and duct but gets zero airflow because of this set up! I'm thinking of cutting it out to gain some cooling advantage but at the same time wondering if that will put the center rad at risk of damage.
Thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
Previous owner may have been in accident and repaired incorrectly. All center radiators should have center opening. Make sure if you remove the center cover, you still have the proper air duct still attached for maximum efficiency.
Good job alpy. I searched for hours and saw many text which said tip bumper is different (has center hole already open), but I never found photos of it, and the parts diagrams don't show it very well.
OP, try to write a more descriptive title next time. That way everyone doesn't need to open it to see the subject. Oh and welcome.
So I did a bit more research, then tore into it this morn. Opened up the bumper and I'm pretty sure it's the original bumper cover on the car. Not one dead bug, rock or debris in the center rad! Makes me wonder....
So easy as pie opened up the duct and I'm good to go now!
Next project will be to install some mesh grill to protect those rads!
Matty I made my own from 'leaf gutter guards' from a local hardware store. I have 3 photos. One showing the inside of the bumper where I cut and screwed in the mesh. The opposite showing off the car from the outside and the 3rd look when the bumper went back in place. Be careful when making the holes for the self tapping screws and washers so you do NOT drill the thin part of the bumper. . You can spray paint the mesh black or leave them as bought, as I did, last year and they have not tarnished in any way. Close up, the gutter guard are the exact same as the mesh used by Pelican parts and other makers which are sold for at least $250. In MHO the biggest rip off on the Internet. I paid less than $5 for one guard which I cut in half with tin snips and easily hand shaped them before screwing into place. Check out the finished look. You would need 2 guards, a total $10 to complete the 3 radiators cover. Have fun.

That looks great, totally along the lines of what I was thinking as well.
What type of material is that mesh? All I can find in my little town is galvanized stuff but I'm more inclined to go aluminum if possible.
Mine is galvanized and as light as a feather. Check the outrageous prices on this page. And this is in ENGLISH POUNDS. so add another 3rd to convert to USA dollars. The one I used covered the two intakes. It was under $5. I do not have the 3rd radiator so you would need two of them.
