Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just a nod to the Leatherique product. I used it for the first time on my 100k's seats. I did the full 24hr wait period, plus on the driver side I did three additional coats of the rejuvenator as the seat area kept absorbing it. Then cleaned it away with the cleaner and damp cloth. The seats were not that bad to begin with, but I did not expect such a big difference in them. The cracks are half as visible as before, and they have a nice uniform nice look. They feel softer too. I did find that someone had dyed the backs of the seats and when buffing at end, that dye started to come off (can be seen on passenger side), so not really sure what to do about that, but not too worried as just the backside. If you were considering Leatherique I would def do it! They actually look better than in the photo

POST 2Original post

They look good! Ive been thinking about doing this. Their website and marketing are laughably amateurish, but everyone seems to rave about it in both the Porsche and BMW forums. Sounds like you did the two step cleaning and rejuvenator. What size kit did you buy?

POST 3Original post

Quotes source post: 18916071

Website is just old. It had this format back in 2009. I'm guessing it's owned by someone up in the years and they don't see the need to change it. Probably word-of-mouth is their best advertising. I'm going to have to give the product a try.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18916071

Yes it's two step. Condition first, clean second (counter intuitive). I followed this video - You Tube I would recommend a two bucket system when using the cleaner. I used one bucket of water, and it got dirty very quick and had to keep emptying it. Second bucket of clean water (like you would when washing car) probably make it easier and stop adding sudsy water back onto seats.

POST 5Original post

Quotes source post: 18916248

Thanks for the tip. That makes a lot of sense. Did you get the 8oz set or the 16oz set? I have the exact same interior as you and I want to do all four seats.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18916262

16oz bottles on Amazon. I used half the bottle of the rejuvenator. 1/4 of the cleaner.

POST 7Original post

Man that looks pretty cool. I worked with a dude back in my detailing days that used this product on certain cars. Just added the kit to my Amazon cart and will try it out, my seats are pretty clean but why not see how well it works.

POST 8Original post

I used Leatherique on seats I got on eBay for my Z4. It was more work than other leather products but wow, it sure did bring out the suppleness of the leather. I had some leftover and used it on the targa seats. Also wow. I probably owe the driver's seat another session, but I ran out of product. Nice to know it can be had on amazon.

POST 9Original post

Glad it worked for you but I thought the product was meh, at best. 996 seats are painted unless you have the natural leather option. The Leatherique just sat on top of my leather and didnt soak hardly at all during the hot Sun waiting period.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 18922584

What do you use otherwise? Just curious.

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 18922584

My car has no special leather options and it worked well for me. Same with the E86 seats I used it on.

POST 12Original post

It does work and does soak in, but only if the leather really does need it. I probably should do it this summer on the Turbo, since I haven't done it since last summer. It works AMAZINGLY well - again, I followed the Esoteric Detailing instructions. I actually let mine soak for three days, and just kept putting more and more conditioner on until it wouldn't take anymore... Two bucket system works well. Overall, it seems like a very good product.

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 18923404

Ive been happy enough with the conditioner made by Adams as it has a UV protectant in it. I also think Surf Citys Voodoo cleaner and protectant work pretty well. Id say that the Leatherique would work well if your leather is cracked but I dont understand how anyone thinks it can soak through actual leather paint. Maybe Im missing something.dunno.

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 18924519

I'm confused, leather is dyed, not painted. It might depend on whether one has partial leather or full leather seats. I don't know what the other part would be on partial leather seats but if not leather, it may not absorb the product. Perhaps vinyl? Leather will absorb liquid, not quickly but it will.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18924539

The Leathique rejuvenator definitely was absorbed because it took 3+ coats on the driver side and I probably could have done a 4th or 5th. The passenger side, which is much better condition only took one coat. I also did the rear seats. The results in the front seats, especially the driver seat, was incredible. Even a week later I am shocked how good they look. And they say it continues to improve condition in the first few weeks. And my seats weren't in "bad" condition, kinda of shiny and some light cracks/creases. So my exceptions were not to see that much of a difference, though I saw a much bigger one. I would say give it a try. The other guy may have just had a bad experience with it..?

POST 16Original post

I should give Leatherique another try. I used it once on my seats and I found that it added some suppleness back but the result was the cracks in the leather were much more emphasized.

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 18924539

My 996 is a 99 with Full Leather.

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 18924539

Surprisingly, the process is more like painting, its a coating not just a dye, you can buy similar at hobby stores that sell to leather crafting people. I used it many years ago to fix a scratch on a leather seat, it looked like black model paint, you brushed it on, let sit for a minute and wiped off, it leveled the surface like sandable primer and hid the scratch well.

POST 19Original post

@Ben8jam Did you use Leatherique on the steering wheel too? Thats the part of my interior with the shiniest leather.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18931465

I did not, it honestly didn't even dawn on me to do so.

POST 21Original post

I had my seats redone last month with leather and plaid inserts . The guy that made and installed the new covers says he only uses Lexol leather conditioner . Just another data point to consider .

POST 22Original post

I have Lexol too. It's also a two-part process but the cleaner comes first. For really old leather I like Leatherique better. I have used Leatherique on steering wheels without any problems. It's not slick or sticky when used correctly.

POST 23Original post

I've used Lexol in the past as well - haven't used it on the Porsche, but have used it on my DD leather seats and it was totally fine. I've also used it on my bags, shoes, etc. and it's been great!
