I think Michelin cuts the warranty in half (50%) when installed on cars with different sized tires front and rear.

Cost (least important as I changed alignment settings to get 20k miles from the rear tires now)

(Since it's s a low miles/year, summer car, the fronts are replaced before they're worn out with a newer generation to match new rears.)

I ran a set of Yokohama Advan A/S tires for a while on my 03 C2.

Too lazy to check my service records but I can if anyone needs exact numbers.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thanks in advance. Looking to replace my Sumitomos. They are ok but I get nervous in the winter as they are summer tires. No track time planned. Daily driver. Which tire will be best for my priorities in this order:
1. all season (summers to 110 winters no snow but some 20 degree F
2. quiet even with some mileage
3. Cost (least important as I changed alignment settings to get 20k miles from the rear tires now)
I ran a set of Yokohama Advan A/S tires for a while on my 03 C2. Sizes 235/40R18 & 285/35R18. Got over 26,000mi out of the rears. Not quite a top-tier tire, but great bang-for-the-buck on a daily driver.
Had no issues with rub nor fitment, but not sure that combo would work if you have an AWD model
Leaning for Michelin PS AS4. Price is good. I think I had them 14 years ago. When they were done I actually got a fair amount of money back from the warranty. Looks like 45k warranty which will never happen on any 996.
Thanks for above suggestions.
I've been running the Pilot Sport All Season 4's for almost 3 years, over 8k miles and happy with them. I have the same 18" Carrera wheels (8" and 10") with 225/40 and 275/35 and the fit is just right. With all road, no track and minimal freeway I should get near 20k on the back maybe 25k front. Costco had the best price with their $150 off 4 promo which seems to be offered every other month.
I have AS4's on my E93, replacing AS3's. Great tires IMO but I have to admit to being a bit of a Michelin fanboy. All that said, if you actually drive the car in snowy/icy conditions I highly recommend a second set of wheels and genuine winter tires. I've been tooting that horn ever since they saved me from a serious accident 20 years ago. These days I don't have to drive in that stuff, just want a tire that handles a wider range of temperatures, so the all-seasons have me covered.
Thats why I went with a 275/35. The 275 increases the rake just a tiny bit too-which I needed. My opinion: 265 was too pinched. 285 not enough sidewall height, 275 just right. Sorry all you factory-spec purists, but I really prefer more sidewall width and a smidge more sidewall height on the Carrera II 5-spoke.
I have 35k on my Continental DWs somehow and there is still tread left. Cant explain it but theyre not down to the wear bars. A little squirrelly in the cold but still great on the curves. Also quiet when new.
I'm incredulous! I've got 6x,xxx miles on my 2001, and get 12,000 miles from the rears, regardless of brand. (Since it's s a low miles/year, summer car, the fronts are replaced before they're worn out with a newer generation to match new rears.)
If you get some 17 inch wheels, the DWS is available in that stock size. I'm chasing the same issue, I need winter tires, and the 17" route looks like the best option.
no change. Its just lowered with H&Rs so the fronts arent quite exactly right but rears are okay. I cant explain it. Other threads indicated it wasnt possible. I turned 59k on the way to work today and bought them at 24.5k.
I was getting 8000 mile on the rears with the original negative camber( think it was -3 or -4). I reduced it to either 0 or -1 and now get 18,000 when the wear bars just start to wear on the inner portion of both rear tires. Dont quote me on the camber numbers as it has been a few years. Too lazy to check my service records but I can if anyone needs exact numbers.
Just put on Continental Extreme Contact Supersport 02's , the Michelins gave their all, down to the cord on 1 rear on the inside edge.
Headed to the alignment shop next week and going to dial back the camber in the rear with a 4wheel alignment.
Just a day of driving, but I like the feel of them. Conti says 30K on a set.. LOL I bet a C4 is not included in that statement..
Apologies for the delay. I managed to find the alignment data when i bought the continentals. Because of the lowering springs, the camber maxed out at -1.7. Maybe that helped? Who knows.
Here are mine. I can see why you are getting more than I am as I went from about -3 to -2 on my right rear which was the one I would blow first on the inside portion after 8k miles. I am getting 20k now with -2 so I am happy. Got the Michelin AS today and they are sweet. Seem to corner better than the summer high performance Sumitomos.
