Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Also, to tighten the tip to the exhaust, should I try to tighten the bolt that is under the tip (in the hole) ?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Folks,
Yesterday after driving on the highway and slowing down into town, I started to hear a rattled.
After parking, I noticed the rattle came from the exhaust.
I've attached a video here. Basically, if I apply some pressure with my foot to the exhaust tip, the rattle goes away. If I tap the tip with my palm, I hear a rattle on one side but not the other.
Attaching some pics as well.
Do you reckon new clamps would do the trick or should one look out for anything else?
Thanks!
It rained the night before, so there is some water there. Not sure if the rattle comes from the exhaust pipe being too close to the tail pipe.
This is a picture from the backside of the tail pipe. The bolt is rusty.
Picture from the hole underneath the tail pipe. I didn't dare touch that bolt.
Clamp to the tail pipe is newer than the others, I guess the previous owner(s) did something.
Very rusty clamps/bolts by the cats.
I would start spraying all of those rusty bolts with Kroil or PB Blaster . Spray them every day for a week and heat cycle them . That will give you a fighting chance to remove them once you figure out what or where the rattle is .
You can hit the exhaust with a rubber mallet to help diagnose where the rattle is . It could be the inside of the cats has come loose . Or a heat shield . Or a tip . Lots of possibilities .
Thanks!
Yeah, not sure if it is best to take it to the mechanic or try to do it myself.
Dont want to make things worse by breaking a bolt.
If something in the cat is loose, would that mean a new cat? Can you replace just one cat or do you have to swap both? Hoping it is not that...
Feels more like the tip though.
If you are confident that it's the tip then take it off . That will confirm the diagnosis . Based on your pics that is easier said than done . Rust ! Start spraying as I suggested .
I recently did an exhaust swap on my Carrera and had a similar rattle. It ended up being the hanger bracket was loose. In your case it could be a rusted/popped weld on the tip OR the bolt has rusted free. I use Evapo-Rust and LOVE it. They also make a gel formula for bolts that aren't horizontal. But I'd just use the regular stuff and soak some paper towels in it and wrap them. Keep basting them for a day or so. It has never failed me and if you follow me on YouTube, then you know I've dealt with my share of rust on my 911. Good luck!
Thanks for the answers!
If it is the bracket, can one weld it back or do I have to look for new tips ?
Also, to tighten the tip to the exhaust, should I try to tighten the bolt that is under the tip (in the hole) ? If so, it that an 8mm bolt?
In the meantime, I got CRC Rust Off Pro... which I'm assuming is an equivalent to Kroil.
I've been spraying for 2 days now and the bolts looks a bit better.
Thanks!
C.
