Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Disconnect battery' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check fiment' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

When I replaced the oil tube I had to remove a lot of the induction components to get to the fill tube.

Suggestion
Get mirror or an inspection camera to double check the fiment.
Test smoke preferably or carb/brake cleaner or even soap/water mix

Suggestion
I'm not saying that this is the issue but I'm kind of underlying the fact that finding a vacuum leak typically requires some kind of test - smoke preferably or carb/brake cleaner or even soap/water mix.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I recently replaced my engine mounts. Sniffing around I notice the oil fill tube was leaking. Stripped everything out and replaced it. Fairly straight forward.
Went to start it and it either idles fine and then dies after ten seconds. Or, spits and sputters and doesnt start at all.
Few things:-
I disconnected the battery for several days.
There are no warning dash lights.
When I replaced the oil tube I had to remove a lot of the induction components to get to the fill tube. Do the sensors need to be recalibrated?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated thanks
Agreed with the other two. It's possible you missed a vacuum line OR it popped loose, which is very common when you go poking around. Even though you didn't get an MIL you should plug in a scanner and see if there are any pending codes. I bet there are.
Thanks for the replies.
I have reinstalled everything a couple of times and no luck. Only thing I can think of is that the plenum is not seating correctly. looks fine but its hard to tell as I cannot see the rear of the connection.
Finding a.vacuum leak can be really difficult without a smoke test - or without using an old trick with carb/brake claener / soap/water mix. Considering that all the vacuum lines are made of plastic and connectors are rubber and - if original - they are now almost 20+ year of age it's possible that they are just so brittle that they can leak even though they are seemingly ok. When I replaced one of those plastic lines it was really hard to touch and bend and when I got a new one it was soft and flexible. You can buy that vacuum line by the length and it's cheap even getting from Porsche directly or online... (about 10-15 (eur/usd) / (1 meter / 3 feet) - part number
00004320501
- then just cut it to a appropriate length using the original.
Those vacuum lines (fixed wording from "tubes"...) are those really thin black plastic lines that goes in multiple places in that engine compartment - easy to find. They kind of hang in the air and it's kind of easy just by accident to hit those and they will detach from the connectors. Now if they haven't been removed ever or for a long time they might work of as they are kind of "glued" together with the "age" but once those are separated and both part (line and connector) are hardened it might be that the connector starts to leak once reinstalled - just a theory

I can tell you that I chased a vacuum line after doing work in this area. Turned out to be the 428mm line in Yogibara’s line, popped off at the farthest point (which isn’t visible).
