Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone. In the hunt for a well kept 996. I have located a 2003 RWD coupe with low miles. When I asked to see the sticker, it came through with a 'Tiptronic' which is a no for me but oddly the car has a 6 speed manual? Acquiring dealer of course is clueless but promises to get me some details (unlikely). Not a Porsche dealer. Carfax does show that at around 13,000 miles, the tranny was removed and then put back in place but no other details? Tach shows the manual version so this too must have been replaced. Cool with all of this since the work was done by a Porsche dealership. Wondering if this is common and kosher? Does it in any way affect the value of the car? On resale I would suspect an eyebrow might be raised if one looked at the sticker but what kind of concerns should I have here? My thanks.

POST 2Original post

Well maybe its the same car, but i have seen one on a dealer site that the moroney shows Tiptronic when the car is obviously a manual car.. i would think it much more likely that the Moroney sticker has an error, i think those build sheets from Porsche sometimes have errors on them also, heck iv'e even read of a hood options sticker on a 996 that was wrong. not to give away your dealer location but if its a silver car with low miles it might be the same car.

POST 4Original post

Make sure you scan the DME for actual mileage/hours- although the DME would also have to be reprogrammed if they manual swapped it.. You can swap out a dash and the mileage follows the dash, not the DME. --Aaron
