Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It seems like i used the long bolt through one of the mounting washers for the fuel rail?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone.
I'm in the middle of a rebuild (toward the end really) of my 2004 C2 M9603. I've had the car apart for 4 months and have gotten 95% of it back together and almost ready to go back in the car. But I have 2 of the vacuum reservoirs. One I never removed (left the block in tack and only tried to take off what was needed to get the heads off suspecting a cracked head), but also another that I did take off. It has one long H5 gold looking bolt.
Problem is I can't find where it goes/mounts and then a have about 3-4 vacuum lines that are disconnected and not exactly sure how to reconnect. I can't find any pics that I took that show this clearly (fail on my part).
Everything I've found online (diagrams and videos) only shows 1 reservoir, but I have 2 and have seen references to 996s having 2.
First pic is the reservoir in question. Second is the one that I never removed just for comparison. Any ideas on where the first one goes and how it hooks up etc? Anyone have a diagram and/or pics of the vacuum system with 2 reservoirs?
You must have the performance exhaust option. That canister bolts on the bank 2 side. i don't remember where I ended up placing mine. It seems like i used the long bolt through one of the mounting washers for the fuel rail? I do remember that there aren't too many options and I doesn't really matter as long as the hoses reach and the cannister doesn't get in the way of something else. I can look later and see if I can take a picture but I'm guessing someone else will beat me to it as I can't get to it tonight.
I do have the performance exhaust. I also have this extra sleeve that I think is for this thing too and I also remember the fuel rail on that side missing a bolt that I just find a random 10mm for. I just put it there and this is what it looks like. Look about right?
FYI, I found a thread with the PDFs for hooking up the PSE which has a lot of this detail. They show it mounted sideways on the other end of the rail on bank 2 (toward the rear of the car by the accessory belt). This goes a long way to help me with the vacuum lines too.
The PDF's are located on this thread (post 11):
