Given that I have neither then I can just replace the head unit and use the standard speaker wirings.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, I've got a 03 996 cab 2 non Bose. I'm looking at changing the stereo and from reading all the other posts on this subject I thought that: a - all 03 996s had the MOST system b - all 03 996s had an external amplifier, even the non Bose cars On removing the head unit (CDR-23) I've found the only connection which looks like a fibre optic is just looped between the input and output. All the other connections are conventional electrical connections. There appear to be 4 speaker connections there, but also, so far as I can work out, also pre amp out connections, all wired up. I only have the single CD, not a CD changer. So, my provisional conclusion is that I don't have the MOST system and this would only be used to connect to a CD changer (if I had one) or to an external amplifier if I had the Bose system. Given that I have neither then I can just replace the head unit and use the standard speaker wirings. Are my provisional thoughts correct??? Thanks...

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I've now discovered that there are two versions of the CDR-23: - the BE6611 which has a built in amplifier (the one I have) - the BE6612 which has no built in amplifier

POST 3Original post

Don't know all of your answers, but amp should be in the frank, near the battery compartment.
