Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

On mine it looks like the plastic mount for the lid will also need to be clearanced just to get the strap end in if I was to try to use that hole, have no idea when that lid was replaced had the car for 5 years and just now noticed, the end of the strap was twist tied around something just now getting to it.

on my 2001 C2 so I got some of those plastic rivets and was going to do what I have seen on some YouTube videos but ran into a problem

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I wanted to cinch my Gas cap strap
on my 2001 C2 so I got some of those plastic rivets and was going to do what I have seen on some YouTube videos but ran into a problem
Can't get to the hole
It just will not go in there, the end of the strap I mean not even close one quarter of the hole is blocked off
No need to drill a new hole. Just grind down the side of the pin so it can go in the hole. My hinge was replaced and I installed the new tequipment cap that way.

Agreed. Spoke too soon. Pictured here. Until I get it sorted, I stuck the untethered end in the opening just above it and it holds pretty well. You can see both issues in this picture.
I'm going to ask a related question: Where does one obtain the plastic pin that secures the strap to the hole? I ordered a new gas cap from Pelican and it came in a Porsche bag with a cap and strap, but did not have the pin.
I got mine at my local Porsche dealer there only a little more then a dollar part #999 691 712 40 Pelican also has them they list it as " fuel cap strap clip" part#999 507 499 40 but 4 dollars shipping on a $1.04 part
