Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any ideas on where this coolant leak is coming from? I'm losing about half an inch of coolant every 500 miles. My guess is it's the coolant expansion tank. Keep in mind this is in very hot temperatures. The big hose on the top of the pic had a drop or two on it, hard to see on the picture. @TexSquirrel @Porschetech3 Any ideas guys?

POST 2Original post

Maybe u should tell us where on the car that pic is taken? Move back 3'.

drivers side, rear of engine (see the engine mount), looking up from the ground

POST 4Original post

Tank or the plastic fitting by the alt pulley that always fails?

You mean here?

POST 7Original post

You got as pretty good stain trail going on there... Get up top with a "mirror on a stick" and follow that stain trail, it will lead you right to the leak...

POST 8Original post

How old is the tank.. unfortunately thats one of the big contributors, aging plastic..

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

6 years old I think, doesn't look bad. I've seen many a expansion tank that looked way worse.

@De Jeeper I have a leak below the alternator that I need to find and fix. Where exactly is this part and do you know the part # by any chance. Thanks.

POST 11Original post

https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...BoC9BwQAvD_BwE Follow the small coilant hose and u will see the craptastic plasic factory fitting. It could also be your water pump. Good luck

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 18900217

thanks! The water pump is less than a year and I can trace the drip above it.

POST 13Original post

Oh, I see it now. Only seen my engine mount nut from the side after I took a 2 meter breaker bar to loosen it! Agree with others on this thread pointing to tank or connection to it.

This was the part I replaced. Mine was not broken, but I replaced with a metal one from Rock Auto

POST 16Original post

Pelican parts has it as well. The original part is made of plastic and it breaks on all of us. Replace with metal part. 996-106-226-52 or similar.
