I purchased and installed the 996 mounts that I picked up on eBay and picked up a hardtop for cheap.

If you remain without one and park outside, I'd recommend a waterproof cover for when it storms to help remove the risk of leaking.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Everyone,
My 04 C2 have a hardtop delete but i will really love to have one.
What are your experience with it and does it worth it?
There is a lot of used Hardtop for sale but i don't know how much the hardware will be
I think it really depends on your usage and your location. When I first got my car, I would put the hard top on every early winter, and take it off in the spring. But my cab is not my daily driver, so I find that I just don't bother putting it on anymore. I have a "hoist" of sorts, but it's difficult to install with one person. (much easier with two people).
But, the hardtop has spent the last 4+ years on a rack on my garage ceiling. Maybe the hard top would get more use in a colder climate, or if you use it as a daily driver.
If it’s a daily driver (security), drove in winter or parked uncovered out doors (wear), I’d consider it. Otherwise save the coin to eventually replace the top you got at some point.
My '99 came with a hardtop. I took it off, expecting to put it back on again during winter, but never did.
So I sold it, as it was taking up space in the garage.
Mine did squeak a little when I on, going over bumps, etc.
As stated already, guess it really comes down to where you live and usage. If you remain without one and park outside, I'd recommend a waterproof cover for when it storms to help remove the risk of leaking.
I have a 997.2 Cabriolet and found a 996 Hardtop. It was originally black, but had it painted Platinum Silver. The 997.2 had the mounting points, but not the hardtop receptors. I found the receptors online from the UK.
I live in South Texas and the hardtop is great on 100+ days. I use my car daily I installed a winch in the garage and can remove and place the hardtop by myself, its very easy.
Im very happy to have two cars in one
Original black hardtop
Garage winch
Harsh weather mode
Topless mode
I too put hardtop on my Pastel Yellow 996 for summers here in Florida really makes a difference in AC efficiency and also when we get a down pour rain. I have a Mirage Metallic extra 996 hard top for sale listed on PCA Mart for $975 Rennlist discount to $800 cash and carry.

I found the complete hardtop receiver hardware at
Design 911 in the UK.

They have in stock and very affordable.
I daily mine and it is parked outside so the hardtop is great in the winter. My car came with the hardtop delete so I didn't have the mounts in the car. I purchased and installed the 996 mounts that I picked up on eBay and picked up a hardtop for cheap. If you don't garage the car and drive it year-round, I highly recommend it. Be aware there are different mount types. There is a bayonet mount and a screw-style mount. The screw-type mount was introduced for the 997s and some 996s were retrofitted with the newer mounts.
