Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Thinking it may need a new ignition lock housing, but wanted to check with the community on other possible issues before firing up the parts cannon.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just replaced a failed ignition switch and now the accessories stay on after the key is removed. Thinking it may need a new ignition lock housing, but wanted to check with the community on other possible issues before firing up the parts cannon.
Appreciate the response, I swapped out 2 different new
Magneti Marelli ignition switches. Both are the correct version for the older ignition lock.
The failed one had a broken spring stop and the new ones function perfectly (car starts, hvac fan works again), EXCEPT for not powering down the accessories when the key is removed.
Yep your ignition interlock is probably hanging up. I changed the electrical switch portion on my car based on internet wisdom, which was wrong. Change the entire assembly. It's not that hard. Take the instrument binnacle loose and it gets much easier. Oh and you'll get a new switch with it.
***MAJOR UPDATE***
Repaired for the cost of a couple hours of disassembly and reassembly (rather than $250 for a new URO or $450 for Genuine Porsche parts)
Step 1 - Remove the ignition lock assembly (directions from Pelican Parts
here
)
Step 2 - Pull plastic circlip out of the key-side of the lock mechanism to get at the top tumbler. This will also aid in helping the silicon lubricant to get down to the lower cam mechanism that pulls/releases the ignition lock.
Step 3 - clean as much old grease from ignition switch side of lock mechanism and spray silicon lubricant into the opening around the insert tab for the ignition switch. Let the lube soak in and add a little more.
Step 4 - spray silicon lubricant into the lock tongue and work it in
Step 5 - work the mechanism until it extends and retracts with no resistance or delay
Step 6 - reinstall lock mechanism, install new ignition switch and go out and get some curves!!
will do! you know, that might be a function of the
ignition lock barrel
as I noticed the key didn't turn as nicely as the screwdriver after I installed the lock barrel. I may remove that next and tinker with rehabbing it as well.
