Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking at a 99 996 and noticed under the frunk lid what seems like remnants of an oil leak. Easily rubs off, but greasy to the touch. Any idea what it could be? I test drove the car for about 30 minutes, and didn't notice any smoking smell or active leaks in the same location afterwards.

Thanks for the quick reply! Did some googling using that lead, and it seems to be right, common problem when the brake fluid is overfilled. How big of an issue is it? Depending on how long it's been sitting this way, are there considerable concerns of rust, etc?

POST 4Original post

Not sure of the best way to remediate it. Take everything out of the frunk and wash would be my gut reaction.

POST 5Original post

I've always used warm water and regular dish soap to clean up brake fluid. But I' not always workmen on a Porsche..
