Where did you end up locating your microphone? While I don't have a cab (Targa) I ended up having the external PCCM+ microphone installed behind the round grill as shown in the attached pic. There are no issues when my Targa roof is open.

I had mine installed in the same place but everyone has a hard time hearing me. The only time I am heard clearly is when the top is up or I'm sitting idle. So confused.

I don't have the PCCM+ in my Cab, but I have a bluetooth adapter on my stock radio that provides hands-free calls. My microphone is behind the driver side sun visor and works great even with the top down..

From what I've read, the factory microphone location isn't ideal. Maybe it doesn't matter as much anymore with modern microphones. I know that my car came with the mobile phone option and the original owner had the microphone moved to where I have mine.
