I have done my research and I have replaced the gas cap and the purge valve by the TB but the code still comes on.

Suggestion
A more likely place for a leak is the plastic "lid" above the fuel pump on the gas tank......Remove the cover and see if there are any cracks in the plastic lid where the fuel lines come out of the tank....or better yet "Smoke Test" it ...

Hello all, I have a 996 C4S, I have had a code P0442 on for a while, I clear the code but it comes on after a few days. I have done my research and I have replaced the gas cap and the purge valve by the TB but the code still comes on. I took the front passenger side wheel of to take a look at the charcoal canister and filler vent valve and lines, Now, the valve that �opens� when I put the filler hose in from the pump is the one pictured. (996-201-231-01) I know because when I put a stick into the fuel filling hose I can hear the noise coming from this valve. could this be the valve malfunctioning and causing my P0442 code? Perhaps it�s not �closing � properly and the computer detects a leak? what do you guys think?

I don't think that valve is your problem, but you should be able to "blow" into it to see if it is sealed.. A more likely place for a leak is the plastic "lid" above the fuel pump on the gas tank......Remove the cover and see if there are any cracks in the plastic lid where the fuel lines come out of the tank....or better yet "Smoke Test" it ...
