Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
As far as I know I could never hear my pump running when it was still good but empty of fluid due to blown out cylinder hydraulics.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey all hope youre enjoying my recent content on YouTube. I know its not Porsche related but rest assured now that the A4 is sorted enough to move Ill be focusing on the 911.
First order of business is to resolve the top. So I purchased the latch motor assembly from a fellow Rennlist member and installed it. Now the tops hydraulic pump is making noise but no movement.
Let me know if you have any insight.
Trying to attach video. But no luck. Heres a link instead.

Yogi I watched the video and my primary concern, knowing how my partially disabled top functioned when I bought it, is that your clamshell doesn't appear to be trying to open. In fact, I wonder if that's actually what you hear and not the pump. I can't be sure. As far as I know I could never hear my pump running when it was still good but empty of fluid due to blown out cylinder hydraulics. Are you sure that sound you're hearing is not the clamshell gear drive? I wonder if there's not something physically wrong with something mechanical in your clamshell drive system. Everything runs on limit switches and potentiometers to verify position of one part to the next. Until that clamshell is fully open the pump shouldn't even try to run.
It's absolutely the clamshell making the noise. It's not seized. I can manually open and close it. I'm wondering if I need to close it, remove the manual screw, put some loctite on it, reinstall it 3 turns. (per workshop manuals). My rams are leaking fluid now, almost like I blew out the seals. I couldn't find the hydraulic valve that's discussed in the manual either.
Yeah looks like I'll need to have them rebuilt. **** I wish there was a DIY kit still available. It doesn't look that hard and it can save me a couple hundred bucks at least.
If only this stupid weather would clear up I could wash it so I can start the detailing.
Just had mine rebuilt and are working great. Everything i've read said the hydraulics need some modification so they don't leak again and the kits out there have substandard orings. Just use cabriolethydraulics and save yourself a lot of hassle. They replace all the seals and everything
