Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Inspect relief spring' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check filter every 500 km' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I don't want to remove the oil pump, just the cover to inspect inside.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I have removed the bumper and heat shield tryng to get at the oil pump cover, but still can't quite get at all the bolts.
Any suggestions would be appreciated? I would rather not remove the exhaust. Is this an engine out only thing? The manual details how to do it, but only with the engine out.
Cheers
I don't want to remove the oil pump, just the cover to inspect inside. Trying to cross off possible suspects for low oil pressure at idle when the engine is fully warmed up, and for source of silver non magnetic flakes I have in my oil filter and oil. I had the oil drained and the sump off, so wanted to take the cover off the pump and inspect. But I gave up. I just don't know how to get the cover off with the engine in the car.
The pump won't be the source of this issue.. The debris you found created an open clearance in the engine, allowing for less resistance to oil flow, resulting in a loss of oil pressure. The oil pump is the least probable source of oil pressure losses with these engines.
The first thing to do is remove the oil pressure relief cover and inspect the pressure relief spring, you may find it in 2 pieces.
These oil pumps do not wear, or fail... Open clearances are another story-
Well, if and when you attempt this again, you should get the hardened hex drive for the oil pump from LN Engineering. Good time to replace it with an upgrade. So you think the silver non-magentic flakes are from the oil pump? Is it consistently there every oil change? How about sending off an oil sample for analysis. That might help identify which engine component is shedding flakes.
Already inspected the relief spring. It was good, but I replaced it anyway. Problem continiues. Just wanted to inspect everything I can before handing it to a shop and spending $20 000 for a teardown and rebuild. I have seen some threads were the gears in the oil pump were pitted. Was worth a look while I had the oil drained, but I couldn't get at it anyway.
That has been done too over the past couple of oil changes. Everything was within normal tolerances. But the metal flakes are there nonetheless.
I am in contact with a member on here whose technical expertise I trust. But I welcome other opinions of those in the know.
Debris that can be seen with the naked eye is too large to be detected by UOA.
OP, can you post pics of this debris?
Generally debris and low oil
pressure means its coming apart; whether you want it to, or not.
