Then (as you can see) I replaced the stock mufflers with Fabspeed super cups (so loud and SO AWESOME) and the rattle is still there.

So, the engine mounts were shot so I thought that replacing might MIGHT clear it up based on the engine being an inch too low.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was hoping to get an opinion or 2 on this. I've had the car a few weeks and there's been a driver's side exhaust rattle. So, the engine mounts were shot so I thought that replacing might MIGHT clear it up based on the engine being an inch too low. Nope. Then (as you can see) I replaced the stock mufflers with Fabspeed super cups (so loud and SO AWESOME) and the rattle is still there. Put the car up on ramps today and tightened down everything I could see, including clamps, flanges, heat shield bolts, etc. I then took a rubber mallet and carefully tapped on things until I got to the cats...and it sounds like somebody is shaking a can of spray paint. Are my cats shot?? Thoughts? It's a 2004 911 C2.

POST 2Original post

Ill take a post on cat rattles all day before an IMSB rattle, lol. See if you can find someone to loan a used cat and see if the noise goes away. Or you could bypass them. If the cats are bad, a used set, or a new set of 200-cel might be the way to go. The 200-cell supposedly might have a tad less restriction, which means you could gain a HP or 2. Its also louder.
