This is not a probability of success.

Probably the best all around car I've ever owned, but when looking to add a true sports car to the garage (something to slot in between the M4 GTS and SL 550) I knew another 991.1 wasnt for me.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Happy to be back in the Porsche family. Have owned a 991.1 4S and GTS in the past and missed having a Porsche and a car with a Manual trans. Enter the 2003 C4S and problem solved

POST 3Original post

Congrats and welcome back. I know the feeling. I came back to the fold two months ago after a 14 year break - also with an 03 C4S. Post more pics!

POST 4Original post

Congrats and welcome back! How do you like the driving dynamics of 996 4S vs. 991 4S?

POST 5Original post

Guessing they are very different, my 996 4s and 997.2 4s are night and day different, can only imagine the newer 991.1 4s also feels much different.

Welcome back! Hows that BMW? We picked up an X3 M40i for my wife - family car - but geezus did that car surprise me. I cant believe at how good it is. BMW came a long way from just slapping M stickers on cars to actually having upgraded engine, brakes, suspension, etc. Our X3 is not a wannabe M car. Its a definite mix and balance of a X3M and a base X3.

Two different machines for sure. Best way I can summarize is that the 991 is a very refined sports car, which is happy to go to the track, head to the grocery store, or do a 4300 mile road trip in (we did all those with it). Wife never complained once about the ride or the interior comfort. Probably the best all around car I've ever owned, but when looking to add a true sports car to the garage (something to slot in between the M4 GTS and SL 550) I knew another 991.1 wasnt for me. New technology is great, but I wanted something a bit more raw and of course had to have a manual gear box. Was able to get the keys for the car to take it for a drive. The steering was a bit heavy, the brakes have that solid pedal feel, the suspension lets you feel the road without being too harsh and being smaller overall makes it feel like a sports car. Would I do another 4300 mile road trip in it, nope but a weekend adventure, sure. I was hooked, and knew it was coming home with me.

And you can still make a 4K miles road trip too
