Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello. In process of putting my engine back in the car after a crack head repair. I have come across a mystery (to me) connection on the back side of the engine, on the drivers side. It looks just like an injector connections. Does anyone know what this may be for? 1999 996 C2

POST 2Original post

I thinks that's the crank position sensor connector. The sensor is attached to the transmission.

Crack head repair....took a double take..... oh never mind.

POST 7Original post

For anyone reading this in the future. I used some tape and labeled every wire before disconnecting them. It made it so much easier four months later when I had to put it all back together!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here is another picture of the engine harness I am dealing with. Any ideas on what number 5 goes to? That is my mystery connection Injectors and coil Packs Cam Position Sensor VarioCam Crank Position Sensor ?????

POST 9Original post

There is an extra plug that is not used on the manuals that is used for the tiptronics that is around that area. There is a little bracket that it sits in. When I had to swap my harness, it took me a while to figure that out.

POST 10Original post

Sai change over valve under the plastic accumulator?

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Kris. That makes a lot of sense. Found the little bracket last night. Appriciate your post.

Had a second look on the picture in the first post and the insides look dirty. Doesn't look it lit was ever plugged in but the OP can easily check this.
