Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just thought I would share this. I had a rather annoying creak in the front end for the past couple of months. I just replaced the shocks, springs, and sways. It got worse when hot, and it got to the point that it actually bothered me enough that it was ruining the driving experience. I Googled and got this video, and injected some lube into the rubber boot in the lower control arm...and voila, creak gone! I'll get the control arms replaced at some point, but for now this is a great stop gap measure. How to fix Porsche 911 Boxster 996 & 986 suspension creaking noise Video - YouTube

POST 2Original post

Ha! I saw that one last week too... I think I've got the same thing - at least partially. Did you have to loosen the control arm to get access to that joint? I looked at mine, but seemed like a pretty tight squeeze to punch a hole in the rubber part. I was able to get rid of much of the creaking/squeaking by spraying around several other places/connections. There is still a bit left though and I suspect that it's that ball joint.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My boot was already worn a bit so the business end of my spray can slipped right in and then I just cleaned it out the best I could. That's probably how dirt / dust got in there in the first place. I figured if I was going to pull a wrench, then I might as well replace them. I did not even have to remove the wheel this time. Let's see how long it lasts..

POST 4Original post

It may remove the noise but no way it improves the handling and the what I bet you have as steering wheel vibration around 65+ mph. Or I could be dead wrong unfortunately having the same problem now.

POST 5Original post

Mine handles fine...no sloppiness or shimmy - solid as a rock, just creaky
