Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, I've been running front Bilstein struts and H&R springs on my '01 C2 and the other day as I was driving on the highway with a friend alongside he mentioned to me that the car was "bouncing". I wouldn't think this at all as the springs should offer a firmer ride, I personally did not see what he was talking about but I am assuming as I was driving he could see the car bouncing equally all around as though on a very soft suspension setting. I haven't felt anything inside the cabin nor have I felt anything handling wise. After hearing this I payed close attention and there really wasn't much to notice. The steering seemed fine but at times when i would loosen grip it would respond accordingly over bumps. But that could very well be in my head. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? Or at least have any speculation as to what this could be a result of? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Should have had a video taken. If a shock is gone one can often times see a wheel vigorously bouncing up and down. If both shocks on one end or the other are gone one can observe the vehicle porpoising. If all 4 shocks are gone the car can pogo as it goes down the road. I would think if one was aware of a possible suspension/shock problem, one would notice all but perhaps the first condition. He would probably notice the first condition if the road was particularly rough.

POST 3Original post

If you are running stock valved and probably tired dampers on stiffer / lower springs then yes you will bounce . Put a spot of white lithium grease on the bump stop and see it is contacting the strut top. if so then maybe you are also to low.
