I run a set of 7mm spacers on the back of my stock 65 offset wheels which I believe would make it an effective offset of 58 and have experienced no rubbing issues with the following tires: 285/30 PZero, 285/30 Sumitomo HTRZIII and 265/35 Blizzaks all on 18x10 wheels with stock suspension on a 2002 C2.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello to all,
I've done some searching but haven't found any solid information, enough for me to decide on the purchase.
A local seller is offering wheels he says are from a 997 and are 18x8 ET57 front and 18x10 ET58 rear. They do have tires, and he warns the rears are near the wear bars. He does not list tire sizes.
Would someone please be so kind as to confirm if these will fit on a narrow body 996 C2 without modification?
Attached pics are from sellers ad. Thanks in advance for any and all help.
Hello
I have these exact rims on my 996 C2, so if these rims only come in one size, those should fit. I must warn you though, the tires that should be used on a 997 are taller (more rubber) than what should be used on a 996. So if these were fitted on a 997 the tires are to big.
I run these dimensions which are standard for C2 18"s:
Bridgestone Potenza N-3
Front: 225/40/18
Back: 285/30/18
Rears are not the proper fit for narrow body cars. The offset should be 65mm. 58mm will be 7mm farther out and may cause rubbing, somewhat dependent on the tires you run. I had a set of 58mm On my way! my car years ago and had rubbing issues, ended up selling them.
Dharn55, will this be true for MK1 and MK2. As I do not experience any rubbing and the standard tire width for an MK1 is 265 while for MK2 is 285 on 18s. I have Carrera MK2 by the way.
From what I am able to tell after some searching, the rear wheels came in one other size, 18x11 but I can't remember the offset.
They look very clean on your car!
I have asked the seller to provide tire sizes. It would be nice if I could just slap on these wheels/tires and go, but I would be prepared to get new tires anyway. I'm mostly concerned about the size of the wheels.
Try this for your spacing questions:

I have a 2001 996 and the fronts run a small spacer, maybe 5MM.
The rear are huge! 20 something if not a full 30MM I will measure them next time I have the wheels off.
My rims are the standard 18-7.5-50 in front and 18-10-65 in the rear.
Tires are 225-40-18 in front and 265-35-18 in the rear.
The car is running GT3 front and rear coil overs, sway bars... blah... blah, lowered to GT3 height and corner balanced. NEVER had a tire rub or make any contact in the 11 months that I have owned her. My front lip and driveway are not on the best of terms.

I'm not saying Dharn is wrong with his experience, just relating another data point, that being of my experience.
Don't forget the Mark .1 and the Mark .2 cars have different offset requirements and that most Mark .1 cars can not go wider than a 8 inch wide front rim. Mark .2 cars can go 8.5 and some have gone to 9 with some slight adjustments. I would LOVE to have a 8.5 inch front tire on my 01 996 but mine is a mark .1!
Seller confirms tire sizes are stock 997 at...
Front 235/40-18
Rear 265/50-18
...so slapping them on as-is is out of the question I'm sure.
Can anyone confirm if there is a difference in acceptable wheel size between a Mk1 and Mk2 C2? Arne Klinge has these wheels on a Mk2 without rubbing. If no difference between Mk1 and Mk2, I should be OK.
Looks like acceptable spec for 996 Mk1 is
Front 8" wide ET50/52 so if going up to 57, losing 5mm inner clearance and would need spacer
Rear 10" wide ET65 so if going down to 58, would extend the wheel outward 7mm
If I'm understanding this correctly, the two potential issues are needing 5mm spacer in the front, and possible fender rolling in rear?
If that's the case, I'll just pass on these.
