Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys, I am looking for some input regarding my vehicles. I have owned a 2001 C2 since December. 102k on body, 42k on the replacement factory crate engine. It is not going anymore and I take great care of it. I got rid of a 1986 BMW 3 series 2 months ago and while a blast to drive, too much of a money pit. In additon, I currently have a 2001 Chevy Blazer 4x4 which I got for free from my uncle. Currently has 170k on it. Despite being relatively reliable, I never use it for its SUV purposes. I just have a dog, no kids (don't want any either) , no baggage However, I am interested in getting a 2015 Challenger RT or Scat Pack. Always loved them and it can keep the 996 company. Would be nice to have at least one vehicle covered under a factory warranty and have something brand new. I have always loved the body style and being 6'5, would be a nice cruiser. But then the questions remains, do I keep the Chevy SUV as a beater or just dump it? Get's to a certain point where you stop spending money on a car. Sorry for the long post but just wanted to be descriptive. Thanks! Please enlighten me

POST 2Original post

If I lived where you live with the snow etc I think I would keep a beater.

POST 3Original post

"Winter" varies from region to region. If you're north of the mason Dixon line, I'd say keep it. If anything else, you can use it for trips to Home Depot.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Jeez would be 3 cars just for me.....why do I love cars so much!! Oh, and I park my vehicles outside as I live in an apartment complex. Forgot to mention this.

POST 5Original post

What does the chebby cost to register and insure? If it's next to nothing, then yes. If it's a couple grand a year...adios.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Like $140 a year for registration stuff, then like $600 a year or a bit less to insure....

POST 7Original post

Has it been long enough since he gave it to you that it won't **** off your uncle if you sell it? I always remember that Seinfeld episode about the astronaut pen in situations like this.

POST 8Original post

Do you drive into Chicago often? If so, I would keep the Chevy for winter commutes.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Lol, that was a great episode! And not really, He gave it to me with 129k. So have put 41k on it in 3 years. That includes a bunch of trips to Florida and moving to and back from New Orleans. Hasn't been that cheap to maintain but then hasn't broken down either

No, not really...live and work in the burbs

POST 11Original post

It doesn't sound like you need it. I think the Challenger would be fine, just put proper winter tires on it! I always used winter tires on my car when I lived in the midwest.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, tires are everything....I would probably only get 2k at most for it. But then do not need to worry about repairs and breakdowns. Would honestly rather spend it on the 996.

POST 13Original post

I'd try to talk you out of a Dodge, but as a Corvette owner, I definitely "get" the whole 485-hp-for-$40K thing. Sell everything and get yourself a Hellcat. You won't live long enough to regret it anyway...

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nahhh, I think a Challenger and a 996 are fine. Haha 707hp is just crazy.

POST 15Original post

YOLO! Now, if you'll pardon me, I need to go find a way to kick myself in the nuts for using the term "YOLO."

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

True lol! It's out of my price range though....at 26 I cannot be buying a Hellcat haha!! Funny thing about this is that my Uncle is considering a Corvette or Challenger for himself

POST 17Original post

I'm sort of in the same place. Started with a new Cayman last year. So got a beater '06 Sentra for the (very occasional) back seat, added a bike rack, and the ding-fest parking at work. Then I got a 996 for a street/track car and thought I'd sell the Sentra.........but it comes in SO HANDY......... decided to keep it. Biking, groceries, hauling people, ding-fest non-Porsche parking.......... If you can swing it - it's a good thing!! Good luck with your Challenger!
