Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I was able to check cam deviation with Durametric enthusiast (which is pretty much the same as Pro).
Leading evidence: 'Check cam deviation' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check cam deviation' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

One thing I noticed is that when I went to check for camshaft deviation, it came up 0.00 for both banks.

Suggestion
Software issues due to ROW cars only having values for bank 1 and only bank 1 cam sensors, while using the same DME.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

At the track this weekend, I noticed a brief lack of power when I had the car over 5000 RPM for an extended period. Just felt like it was starved for fuel for a second. It happened once on a long straight, and again the next lap. I pitted at that point, scanned it with the durametric and put it on the trailer.
The code is for P1531 Camshaft Adjustment Bank 1. I know this points to the actuator and solenoid, or DME.
One thing I noticed is that when I went to check for camshaft deviation, it came up 0.00 for both banks. All other functions and reading were working, but the deviations were 0.00 which I know is impossible. Does this point to one thing or another? Crossing fingers it points to something stupid, but my guess is it won't.
No, the battery had not been out. Car had been on the track for the last three days. I tried to test the cam deviations within 15 minutes of coming off the track, so the car should have been plenty warm.
When diagnosing vario-cam fault codes, don't worry about deviation values, look at actual cam angle values and see if they both respond at the same time.and return and the same time. Also check if they respond better at higher rpm (oil pressure) than at lower RPM, indicating an actuator problem.
The deviation values are very flaky especially on the 99 C2 with DME 5.2.2 , and are to check for chain stretch or pad wear, or initial cam timing settings. Software issues due to ROW cars only having values for bank 1 and only bank 1 cam sensors, while using the same DME.
It's odd, I can't find in the durametric where I can see the actual values for the cam angles. I'll shoot them an email.
Also seems like lots of camshaft solenoid/actuator issues happening on the forum lately.
B3 - thanks. I have the deviation, which noted above are both showing as zero, regardless of RPM or temp. PorscheTech3 mentioned I should be looking at the Camshaft Angles, so was not sure if that is a separate actual value.
Kris - look at where the arrow is pointing in that picture - it is pointing at the actual values for angle - not deviation. He has the deviation selected and graphing deviation. PorscheTech3 is mentioning the ones the arrow points to.
Thanks. I am going to double check, but I do not think I have that option. Wonder if it is because my car is a 99. Or because my car is a 99, with an engine from a 2000. Or maybe I need to update my software. It has been a while.
Find a shop with a good snap-on, matco or autel scanner. All of these can read most things and more then the durametric. Although it might just be a 98-99 dme thing.
my gut is telling me in your case ot might be the cam sensor and not the variocam. Do u have any idea if you gave a a ROW car. This could explain some of the issue as they only read bank 1.
He needs to see " Actual cam angle" its a continuous reading to varify the actuator is moving correctly. The cam deviation is more of a smoothed curve of data at idle.
I checked
@3/98 911 coupe
's early 1998 build Porsche 996 with my Durametric Pro a couple of weekend's ago and the actual camshaft angles were not available.
I was surprised at how many fewer "actual data values" were available.
