Suggestion

It probably does, most shops who know these cars suggest replacing the AOS every 3 years due to how often they fail, tell him you know a guy who makes a "Lifetime one"...

By the way the mechanic told me about 4 hours to replace the AOS, is that correct??

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Im a looking at another car. Diferent color and convertible, off course three pedal. Mileage is 160,000. What would be your concerns.

POST 2Original post

I just did this. I am not concerned about anything.

POST 3Original post

I also own a high mileage '99 996, through at 125k and think they are generally a great idea. If you are a diy'er, some deferred maintenance is not a big deal. I'd be dropping the tranny right now and splitting the case to put in that pesky $5 O ring on the shift shaft if only I hadn't woken up feeling rough from the second vaccine dose. But, if you need to pay somebody to do the work it can add up fast, meaning condition is important at any mileage and a bit more so when the overall value isn't as high (provided you care whether you have to put more in it than it is worth). Well I guess It is going to depend on how the car was taken care off. I got lucky with mine because all it needed was to be driven, oil plug washer , pass side window adjustment, one parking light bulb, a Nokia amp, and intake clean. This other car is closer so if it sounds interesting I could just drive there in my truck look at it and if it makes sense just buy it and get a trailer to bring it back. I met the owner of this one today. 7/98, he got a steal he bought this car 7 months ago and paid $12,500 with 86,000 miles. His AOS May need replacement.

Ill try to get him to a GTG he was with his wife and baby boy, me and the wife just had lunch. Ill refer him to my mechanic and I also I want him to meet squirrel with the manometer we will know right away. He lives like 10 minute from me. I told him about this site and also told him that he should join PCA over here the section is real active. Yes Ill definitely send him your way. By the way the mechanic told me about 4 hours to replace the AOS, is that correct?? This guy owns a detailer company 400 employees, he does reconditioning work for dealers, he let me drive the car $200k, VP from PR we hit it right on.
