Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys, My car didn't come with a hardtop. I got lucky and found the same color one on Craigslist and bought it. I installed the proper Porsche fasteners inside the rear deck. But, it makes a lot of creaking noises. Has anyone fixed this issue? Not sure what to put on the hardtop to stop this? Maybe some sort of thin foam? Thank you in advance.

POST 2Original post

I've read that treating the rubber gasket with a lubricant (silicone?) can help but I haven't tried that. You should also be able to adjust the receivers if they're not clamping down tight enough. Do you have the bayonet or screw type mounting hardware? You probably won't be able to eliminate all of the creaking.

POST 3Original post

You could also try glycerine on all rubber surfaces. Used on all rubber in Germany especially in winter...protects rubber also. Worked on my Targa. Haven't needed it on my CAB hardtop yet. Just my 2 cents.

POST 4Original post

Make sure that the rear fasteners are adjusted properly. There is a spec for the "gap" between the hard top and the rear deck of the car when it's properly clamped down. On the front, I believe there are plastic covers that go on the left and right metal tabs that fit into the receivers at the top of the windshield. Make sure they are in place. Also, try Gummypflege (or something like that) on the rubber seals. Even with all that, my hard top creaks a bit when driving, especially when it's cold.
