Suggestion

If you aren't going to do the triple square bolt and use my suggestion, buy one of these too, it's 50mm instead of 48mm for the above part.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

all...my friend has a 1999 996 and needs one of the 10mm bolts w/tourque head that bolts the transmission to engine...here is the socket that is used for this bolt showing the triple square socket head type: http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...39%2D%30%34%29 **does anyone have a part# or source to buy just one of these?? thanks in advance

There are 4 different bolts, take a look at the pic (#7,8,9 and 10). Which one does he need? I might have them.

POST 4Original post

I used one of these. Same specs but without the XZN head. 900-067-229-01 (a cv joint bolt, same hardness, thread, pitch, length, but with an allen head).

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

is it a 12 point torque head or basic allen head which i belive is 6 point?

POST 7Original post

If you aren't going to do the triple square bolt and use my suggestion, buy one of these too, it's 50mm instead of 48mm for the above part. 900-067-123-09. Buy that one plus 900-067-229-01. One will work. But I can't remember which I used. One of them was exactly the same except without the XZN head.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

is it possible to find the original with the 12 point XZN head which would match the others on the bell housing?

POST 9Original post

I've been told that the bolts differ based on model years and factory where the hardware was made. I'm not sure if you would get the XZN head if you ordered one new today, but you could try. Is there a reason why you are looking for triple square?

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i think thats the style on his transmission but if the 6 point hex head style is the only one available i'll buy one of those....appreciate the help

POST 11Original post

Hey grovezilla, When I did my clutch job I decided to replace a couple of the bolts. Because of the time constraint, I went over to the Bellevue Porsche dealer where they only wanted ~4 bucks for each one. They also had them in stock. Not a bad deal if you need them right away.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks...took "logray's" advise and i ordered the hex head style in 50 and 48mm lengths and they should be here by the end of the week... i'd like to locate the 12 point head if possible.

POST 13Original post

Anyone know the the torque specs for tightening the tranmission to flyhweel bolts?

POST 14Original post

There are no transmission to flywheel bolts. Flywheel to crank M10x1x50 (12.9) is 19 ft-lb initial torque followed by 1x 90-degree angle torque. Thrust plate to flywheel M8 is 17 ft-lb.

POST 15Original post

Sorry, I meant transmission to bell housing. I found the answer in another thread. The 12mm bolts are 63 ft-lbs and the 10mm bolts are 33 ft-lbs.

Do you have the part numbers for each of the bolts? Several of mine got chewed up on removal as they had been over-torqued and loctited by a previous owner. This is for a 2004 C4S manual
