I had my DBCarbon parts installed last week (didn't want to ding them up doing it myself).

I bought the dash trim from DB Carbon.....it looks amazing and it was cheaper than buying it used on ebay, for the few auctions that I did find.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone,
Looking for advice on purchasing carbon fiber for my recently acquired 2005 996 convertible (black on black). I would like to upgrade the doors, instrument surround, centre console, etc...
I priced out the pieces from MAcarbon - over $6k! Any recommendations on other options? Appreciate any advice in helping me upgrade the interior look.
Thanks
Colin
Hey there!
Well, their stuff is good, really good. I recently bought some CF trim pieces for my door bin lids and door handles at what I thought was a good price - GBP600 or so. They arrived and looked great until I tried to fit them... Absolute crap with zero chance of fitting properly without several hours with a Dremel tool. I sent them back for a full refund - but I lost about AU$250 with freight costs etc...
In my experience, you sometimes get what you pay for, but you never get what you don't pay for!
Having said that, in another expert move, I bought a very good CF fuse cover for my RHD 996 C2. It arrived and it too looked great, but it's for a LHD car!!! Haha! Got me again!
Anyway, I'm keen to sell that one piece if you're keen?
Asking US$100.00 and you pay the freight.
Lemme know!
Rgds

I've got several MAcarbon pieces in my car. The PO purchased them. They are well made, fit well, and have consistent direction to the grain which is important on pieces that are close to one another.
I've the the entire center stack from the Horseshoe, AC/Control surround, storage bin, down to the bat wing.
I've also got the factory carbon shifter which honestly does not look as good as the MACarbon components.
I purchased a number of DBCarbon pieces, and found them to be exceptionally well finished at a tolerable price. Excellent communication. Once installed (next week or so), I'll post photos. Nothing but good things to say about Daniel at DBC.
Same here, I had a number of DB Carbon parts in my prior 996. Exceptional quality, and unbelievably good service considering that he is in Germany. Even with international shipping it was still much cheaper than MA Carbon. I read somewhere that he supplies some of the genuine CF interior pieces for the German OEMs, not sure if that's true but the quality is definitely there.
You could also consider going painted from Bumper Plugs for some of those parts. I love the look of a center console painted in exterior color, and it's cheaper than CF.

I had my DBCarbon parts installed last week (didn't want to ding them up doing it myself).
Excuse my photo skills. My car came with OEM carbon shifter, E brake, dash trim strip, 'batwing', and gauge surround.
Replaced the dinged-up ashtray insert, as shown.
Seat hinge covers. Threshold carbon was from another source---and was quite nice, although a bit torqued, requiring some wrestling to install.
Steering wheel base. Indistinguishable, if not better quality, than OEM. Horseshoe is OEM.
Front seatbelt fittings. Soft touch painted part, which was scuffed up and cheap looking.
Hazard trim ring.
Overall look, in my narrow, biased opinion is tasteful and eliminates the cheap appearance of the original parts. Above includes the key surround, which is scuffed up in virtually every case in my experience.
I have absolutely no complaints regarding DB Carbon: Excellent communication, fair prices, and beautiful finish. A standard against which others may be measured.
Thought about the wheel; thought about the armrests as well, although I think the latter would have left the 'tasteful' range and entered the 'overdone' category.
I might do a partial CF steering wheel at some point, although in my area, temps routinely exceed 100 degrees in July/August. Inadvertently grabbing a black carbon wheel that's been sunned all day will leave a mark.
Total price of the various parts was between $1000 and $2000.
For me: worth it. For anyone else: YMMV.
Almost forgot, however: I had the Fabspeed Competition carbon intake installed as well.
After installing the new carbon intake, I noted the following results:
1. Peak power increased by 17HP
2. I am 2.5 inches taller
3. I am better looking
4. My....well, it's longer. No, seriously: I have no idea how that happened.
None of this is true, of course---but the engine sound is clearly better from inside the car above 3000RPM.
It might be more responsive between 4000 and 5000, although it might simply be a placebo effect. Noise outside the car seems marginally different: but then, I'm driving from inside the car, so it's hard to tell.
It's not important enough for me to find a dyno and nail down the precise numbers, but it might have picked up a few HP. MAYbe.
It absolutely looks better than the OEM plastic vacuum cleaner box, however.
