Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Fast forward to this week, I had the motor mounts replaced with the most recent updated part from Porsche at my local shop and the results are dramatic.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well I bought the car last spring (10yo/ 55k miles) and noticed when stopped at a light the passenger seat oscillated back and forth, this was also present at highway speed.
Fast forward to this week, I had the motor mounts replaced with the most recent updated part from Porsche at my local shop and the results are dramatic.
No more oscillation of the passenger seat when stopped or on the highway and the shifts are much more precise and the car handles much better.
Probably 45% placebo effect, but I'll take it.
I decided on the factory mounts as I don't intend to track the car and didn't want to introduce any harshness to ride quality and vibration.
New motor mounts made a big difference in vibration and shift quality. Also raised the exhaust tips up in the rear valance cut outs. This update is a no brainer if your 996 is running original mounts or is getting up in mileage. Not a difficult DIY.
Shifts seemed to be less vague and more slotted since the change. Less vibration while driving too, much more stable handling in corners and at highway speed.
Also helps provide smoother shifting and better handling!
Here is a great DIY
that should be of some assistance for those of you who are going to do this replacement.
