Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Hook up Durametric, check cam deviations bank 1 and bank 2, use Durametric to activate variocam solenoids bank 1 and bank 2 and check operation of solenoids
Leading evidence: 'Replace about 30k miles ago' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check cam deviations bank 1 and bank 2' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Strange situation that I hope someone says "all you have to do is...". Engine cut power, ran poorly (nearly not at all) and code P0341 came on indicating issue with bank 1 Cam Position Sensor. The strange part that I was not expecting was no exhaust coming out of passenger side which is obviously fed from band 1 on the drivers side. I replaced the cam position sensor but it didn't fix the issue. Very hard to start (takes 10 seconds to start, which is what I also found in the service manual as a symptom). Same issue with little to no exhaust pressure out passenger side.
I haven't drained the oil to check. Dipstick appears clean and nothing sticking to it.
Car has 130k and I believe the timing chain tensioner on bank 1 was replaced about 30k miles ago. Car has done about 10 HPDE over the past year or so and was actually on track when the engine power cut. With the windows open, helmet on and just general loudness, I didn't hear any make any strange noises or anything out of the usual prior. I shouldn't have thought to myself about how well it was running and sounded... Still was drivable but I basically put it in the trailer and took it home. Battery sounded a bit weak the next day so is it possible battery is going bad and creating issues? Symptoms seem a but extreme to be just a bad battery though.
I usually do all my own work, but if it's not a 1/2 day job, I may just take it in to indy shop that basically does nothing but Porsche. I just don't have the time.
Any ideas? TIA.

it kinda sounds like the cam gear slipped or chain broke. Im not sure i would start that motor again until i could varify there no internal issues. Although it may just be a wiring or sensor issue.
Just pulled the oil filter and small metal particles in all the pleats. Dropped the oil pan and found some small pieces of black plastic, couple very small pieces of green plastic and brown plastic pieces. Most of the metal was non-ferrous but there were a couple of small ferrous pieces.
Regardless, looks like it might be slightly expensive or very expensive.

Thanks for the replies.

Well, that is not a 1/2 day job so it looks like you will be taking it to your indy mechanic. Black and brown plastic is probably your chain ramps. Non ferrous and ferrous metal means you need to disassemble the motor. Yes, it is going to be expensive.
Hopefully not what mine was. Broken/backed out bolt in head, jammed into cam, broke cam which then broke a pivot arm on the IMS paddle. Ended up with another engine block with nickies.
Kevin
Oh God, I hope you are correct....and its not it... I have no noise at all and its a newer 3.8 with no miles on it...less than 5K... crossing my fingers trying to diagnose it.
