At the end of the day none were bad and just needed to be recalibrated using a PIWIS.

I have a DTC for the steering angle sensor. On my nice-ish T8 tool the steering angle has no value. Sits dead at zero. I assume I need to replace the sensor. I've searched for help with the process without a great deal of luck. Any guidance? I see a couple posts that say removing the column is not needed, but then they get too general for my lack of knowledge about how these cars go together.

You can only read steering angle sensor with PIWIS. The other tools say they can read it but they lie. I would find someone with PIWIS or get a PIWIS to read the sensor before condemning it. You'll need PIWIS to calibrate a new one anyway. The other readers claim to do calibration but they are lying.

You can change the steering angle sensor without removing the steering column. You have to disconnect the U-joint in the steering column under the dash. The sensor slides over the shaft and has a 3 wire connector. It isn’t easy or fun. I have done it 3 times, the first took 3 hrs, the 2nd and 3rd took about 20 min each. At the end of the day none were bad and just needed to be recalibrated using a PIWIS. I changed them because they would not calibrate with other diagnostic tools that said they could calibrate the sensor. Save yourself a lot of possible aggrivation and get the calibration performed using a PIWIS before you start changing them, AMHIK. Good luck with it. Mark
