Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've been looking at a car to buy that has been serviced but had its flywheel and IMS done and has engine vibration after 3500 RPM. What could cause the vibration? Could it be an underlying engine problem? Car has less than 40k miles.

POST 2Original post

An engine vibration means that if you buy it, then it becomes your problem to fix. And it could be very expensive and frustrating. Simply walk away and buy a car without an engine vibration problem.

POST 3Original post

I get a trans vibe from the new trans mount in that range. The variocams kicknjn at that rpm. U will want to run a scanner amd make sure they r moving and the cam numbers r good

POST 4Original post

If it’s the car that I am aware of,i haven’t had a conversation with owner but was vibration there before work was done on it? Might have bent crank?Price point a little high if it needs significant engine repair.

Nothing better than an early morning @DBJoe996 post to make me smile. I respect your bluntness, keep it up.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's the crankshaft bearings according to the seller. Went to look at the car. Basically needs an engine rebuild. Nice roller though.

Another $20 would get you an rebuilt engine from LN and you wouldn't have any concerns. Best,
