Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Oil cooler O-rings and check all the vacuum lines on top of the engine for cracks, etc.

While dropped, I was going to address any preventative maintenance that would be recommended (plugs, wires, air/oil separator, clean motor) Am I missing anything?

Any other suggestions other than a power clean while it is out.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all -
I had my 2002 996, C4, Tip, Cab up on rack/lift and noticed some coolant/anti-freeze dripping from what appears to be from the manifold gasket. The leak was obvious there for some time, some of the coolant looks like stagnates hanging there. If your under the vehicle, it would be towards the top front left area, very slowly dripping down. No overheating problems YET! Anyways, I was going to drop the motor and look closer. While dropped, I was going to address any preventative maintenance that would be recommended (plugs, wires, air/oil separator, clean motor) Am I missing anything? Also, is there any procedure in dropping to follow to drop motor?
I do own a shop, so I do have a two post lift, tools, etc. Porsches are just not the everyday car we service and we do not routinely remove engines period. Any help would be greatly appreciated....Greg...PS: My daughter is Rysa, hence the gregrysa screen name...
Of you're going to drop the engine you might as well replace the RMS with the updated version, and the IMS upgrade. Wouldn't tack on much more time considering you're pulling the engine regardless. LN bearing is about 600, and the pelican bearing is 200.
UPDATE: I finally dropped the engine & tranny today. It is the AOS, leaking coolant all over. I replaced the water pump for preventative maintenance and have new plugs I will put in tomorrow. I'm going to replace most of the hoses (there are a lot, many small ones). Any other suggestions other than a power clean while it is out. I hope to have it back in tomorrow. Thanks for all the replies. Greg
