The scary thing is that I always do a cursory check of the tires but never thought to examine the inside-facing part.

I didn't notice a change, though I didn't put on many miles this winter and I don't know when the bubble appeared.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I usually swap my winter/summer wheels in April but didn't get around to it due to health issues. I had planned to take a long drive today and decided to swap the wheels first.
As I was rolling the passenger side rear wheel into the garage I noticed a huge bubble on the inside side wall. Something that you wouldn't see unless the car was on a lift and you were looking for it.
Glad I decided to do the swap.
I consider myself very lucky that I saw it before anything bad happened. The scary thing is that I always do a cursory check of the tires but never thought to examine the inside-facing part.
I feel your pain. I broke two original factory GT3 wheels thanks to NJ's pothole infested roads.
Did you notice any difference of the overall driving at all with the bubble?
That's the People's Republic of NJ for you. Our tax dollars hard at work.
I know of a dual axle trailer that had one tire that always created a bubble. It ran at about 155 degrees all the time and the other tires were always cool. The alignment looked to be good, but this axle bubbled a tire in about 8,000 miles. Then one day it got back to NC from Savannah racing and the entire hub was missing. The driver hadn't noticed, LOL!! Hope nobody was hurt. Never heard of injuries. Anyhow replaced axle, never had tire issue again. It was a rubber spring type axle assembly on a 24' Wells Cargo.
I didn't notice a change, though I didn't put on many miles this winter and I don't know when the bubble appeared. The tires are Pirelli snow tires and are about 5 years old. It could very well be from a pot hole as the roads here are horrible after the bad winter we had.
