Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
I'd recommend a good long drive afterwards and get the fluids up to the proper temperature level before putting the car up in the garage.
Leading evidence: 'Recommend good long drive afterwards and get the fluids up' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Same here,, if I move it and don't drive it very far it will give a slight puff on start,,
But if I warm it all the way up with driving and park it I never see the smoke and I
dont use much more than a 1/2 quart in 5K.
Well apparently it does now,
What else would cause 'blue smoke' out exhaust?
I'm sure you know already, your owners manual will provide the acceptable oil usage.
Concerned? Yes, these motors are wearing themselves out. Some faster than others depending on many, many variables.....
Yep, that's what happened. I started it and just moved it a bit, shut it off, washed it, then started it up. Later I took it for a spin, no puff at all, I'll keep an eye on it.
When you first start your car, it goes through cold start enrichment to feed the cats. If you quickly turn it off like pulling out of a garage to wash it, you'll experience a puff of white smoke when you restart. Pretty normal with these cars.
I'd recommend a good long drive afterwards and get the fluids up to the proper temperature level before putting the car up in the garage. Short starts and stops are bad for these engines.
I wonder if it's still "puffing smoke"?
I let mine "smoke a little" , But I never let it "drink and run around" !!
Actually the only time mine has ever puffed smoke on start-up in the 14 years of daily driving, was at the lunch-break on Track Day in 2019 when the AOS failed mid-day. And it wasn't a little puff, it was a big cloud !!!
Hence the Invention of the UAOS !!
Thanks for posting this. I get a small puff of white smoke and it doesnt smell like oil at all. I will say that I get a wiff of oil when driving and stopping... ie at a stop sign or alike. I chock it up to the whole Porsche cologne thing thats been repeated here.
All three of mine did the "smoke puff" if I pull them out of the garage cold, turned it off (usually to wash), and then turned it back on. Usually, it burns off quickly for me. It was never like some of the videos we see with AOS failure.
I guess I got a "good one".....
I have cranked and moved it short distances and turned it off many many times in 14 years.
But then again, I monitor my fuel trims ect all the time and keep them "spot on", never any rich running on start-up.(something has be different , right?)
Yea, I've never been concerned about it since these are 20-year old cars. Now you're going to make me a little hypersensitive, Skip! hahaha Seriously, mine only happens when the car has been parked in the garage for a long time without being driven. Once I drive mine, I don't notice any smoke at startup.
I want as much discussion as I can get. People say use the search function. If I find a thread thats gone cold for a year or ten, toss it back out there at see what people have to say. Its all good. I want opinions. More the better.
