Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced my 10mm spacer with a 14mm after seeing your car.

Correct me if I am wrong gents but as you are using 14mm spacers on the front with a ET of 57 you are essentially changing the ET to only 43.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello All,
I just can't seem to figure this out and looking for an assist.
Nothing specific at all about this in existing thread or anything much really that I can find yet in the forum or online.
QUESTION:
Can you put 19 Inch Porsche 997 "Lobster Claw" Wheels on a Narrow Body 996.2 ?
DETAILS:
19 Porsche Lobster Claw Wheels
Front wheels are 8- et57-19 - - - Tires are 235/40/19
Rears are 11-et51-19 - - - Tires are 295/35/19 i
I am trying to learn and figure this out but just don't understand the verbage/detail on wheels yet. Any help is appreciated.
Project Idea is to powder coat these black and see how it works out on a Speed Yellow C2 Cab
Further research and I found this existing thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ch-wheels.html
Seems 19 inch wheels have worked and are ok but not likely for track. Still Investigating
They should fit with no problems, here is my recent thread fitting Carrera Sport wheels on my 996.2.

Copy that. Thank you and that looks great.
Going to give this a go Soren.
Note: Will get new rubber which is fine as these are winter tires anyway on these.
Cheers
Hey Soren
Do you know if your wheels are marked or confirmed ET57 on the Front and ET51 on the back?
Same as the ones I am looking at?
Did you notice a difference with the ride at all in anyway.
Thank you again.
T-LOCHA
Narrow body lobsters will fit. I believe your rear wheels are for a wide body.
For example, narrow body wheels are 19x11 et 67. Im running 295/30 19s.
Here they are on my car in narrow body fitment. The wide body would stick out too far.
I dont know the exact ET but they are original 997 carrera S wheels.
The car is more stable now especially in side wind than before with my 18
Im having continental sport contact N rated tyres on the lobsters and they are very good.
Please take a picture of your wheels when you have a chance, specifically the numbers stamped on the outside near the valve stem on the rear wheels. I cant imagine how you have even et67 wheels on the back with 15mm spacers, never mind et51. My et67 wheels sit nearly flush without any spacers. Im running a 14mm spacer in the front.
Thanks Diddy,
I agree. I almost pulled trigger on these wheels butbelieve the rear wheels I documented would be to large for narrow body also.
To confirm your rear lobster fork wheels are ET67 and fit, and the front wheels I documented would work also.
So it is just the rears in the wheels I posted that are wrong as thet are spec for a 997 wide body.
?
Yes, the rears are 19x11 et 67 with no spacers. 295/30/19s.
Fronts are 19x8 et 57 with 14mm spacers. 235/35/19s
Narrow body wheels are fairly easy to find. A few sets have been in the marketplace here recently.
Thanks. That's what I figured. I must have read it fast. I don't think I could even fit a 3mm spacers in the rear without rubbing out the outside. I copied your front spacer look this winter. I replaced my 10mm spacer with a 14mm after seeing your car.
Ok. I think I actual understand this now and how the ET Offsett works and spacers and such.
Correct me if I am wrong gents but as you are using 14mm spacers on the front with a ET of 57 you are essentially changing the ET to only 43. (57-14=43) Essentiallyr reducing the positive offset by 14mm (or whatever the spacer is) and thus pushing out the tire a little more to line up with the body/fender as you like. This of course has to be done carefully to not look silly as well as keeping performance and safety in mind.
Which explains why the the ET of 51 of the wheels I was going to work with in my original post just won't work as they are really for a wide body 911 and would stick out way to far on a narrow body... and there is no way to adjust this as you can't put a spacer in as it would only reduce this further and push it out even more which doesn't work.
Correct?

You are correct.
The stock wheel size, the turbo look, for the front of the 996 is 18x8 et 50. A very common spacer for the front of 996, with stock wheels, is a 7mm spacer. This would also get the wheel to the same offset I am using, which is et 43.
Thank you for the
lesson
gents. Really appreciate it. It's amazing how one can get lost in a circle of research and info sometimes. This was very clear and helpful.
Thus far I have decided to and am in progress on alternate project to the Lobster Claws, as obviously those wide body rears would not fit.
Working on powder coating these new wheels (pic Below) I picked up from a nice 996 owner in Vancouver.
I believe they are BBS wheels and came stock with some 996 NB year.... I think they are called
Porsche Speed Design Wheels and were stock on some narrow body 996's. Not really sure what these are called. Does anybody know. I've only seen very few pics of 996's with these wheels. Either because they are not liked, or just not oem or common.
