Leading evidence: 'aftermarket radio' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'aftermarket radio' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check actuator' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Another common cause is the switch in the center console lid.

I disconnected my center console wires and all my stereo connections which are two of the suspects listed above.

I just replaced my driver door handle for the second time, as my key fob remote(original from early 1998) stopped working..light still shines when I press the button, but no lock/unlock..hence the key lock gets a lot of use.

I have replaced the passenger latch with an ebay latch due to faulty window behavior and also fixed broken solder joints in my original latch.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have replaced the passenger latch with an ebay latch due to faulty window behavior and also fixed broken solder joints in my original latch. I've checked both door pull switches and the switch in both my latches, and the cubby switch and the glove box switch....all good. Both my repaired latch and my ebay latch work in every way but I'm still getting that annoying single beep when I lock. I assume if my glove box light works correctly, the switch is working. Also, the Frunk and the engine lid switches seem to be working because I get the warning light when I leave either one open. What the HE double hockey sticks is going on here?
Single beep likely indicates a problem with the door locking assembly. Ours does a single beep sometimes, and when we had a Foxwell NT530 I recall it indicated the fault was in the driver's door lock not passenger side. Someday when taking door panel off will replace with a new locking assembly.
Aftermarket radio in the car? Then there's a wire that is no longer grounded and warns you that the switch to detect radio theft is no longer operational.
Attach that to ground and all is well.
I just replaced my driver door handle for the second time, as my key fob remote(original from early 1998) stopped working..light still shines when I press the button, but no lock/unlock..hence the key lock gets a lot of use. When I manually unlock the door, there is a single beep. Also a strange thing is that I need to double lift the door handle to open it. I have lubricated everything well, but no change. I'm thinking it may be due to some wear and play on the rod that snaps onto the latch from the handle, the round end at the inside of the handle is really rounded out and sloppy. Unfortunately my used door handle did not have one on is, the seller may have had an issue removing it I guess.
Could these issues be related?? I'd love to kill 3 birds with one stone
that's interesting. If you left it unplugged, it's an open. that's the switch condition I measured when the lid is shut, therefore leaving it unplugged should not trigger the beep according to my measurement. are you sure? I'll recheck it
it was 6 or 7 years ago - but it does emit a single beep when I lock it
fwiw - I never lock my car in my garage and generally leave the frunk popped - it's clearly a second car
and can be multiple days between drives - learned a hard lesson once when the battery discharged after a number of days
not sure whom you are referring to, my beep after manually un locking, or his after locking? Mine I did check the actuator for the gas door lock thru the Durametric and it functions fine.
Since OP's is fixed, I'm going to hijack this since I just noticed yesterday my locks aren't working properly after my interior overhaul. I disconnected my center console wires and all my stereo connections which are two of the suspects listed above. What do I need to do with those two items to get my door locks working again?
Any info on what to look for/where this wire is? I have an aftermarket radio and a beep that's been driving me crazy since I got the car 3 yrs ago. This is the first I've seen this referenced.
Thanks in advance
I read it was a brown wire. In my car there were two, a large diameter one and a 18 ga or so. I removed the radio and left them open and the beep is gone
It's this long one attached to the OEM radio surround in this picture.
Tape it off so it doesn't make contact with metal/ground if using an aftermarket radio.
