Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I need to replace the brake light inside my rear spoiler. I did some research end the part is # 996-631-050-06-OEM. Pelican parts says my car can use these in either place(below the rear window or inside the rear spoiler)). I just need to make sure it fits the spoiler and not below the rear window....thanks...

Pelican is correct. It's the same light. I've changed mine out on my last 996.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any thoughts on the made in Taiwan version?(As seen on E-Bay)...thanks.

POST 4Original post

The LED versions where known to fail after a short period of time in the past. Does anyone know if that's still the case?

Regarding the third center brake light... I just replaced mine with the genuine part from Porsche. I've heard of many issues with LED on exterior lights. I've changed out the interior footwell, door, and other courtesy lights with LED type, but not the exterior since they will throw errors or not work correctly at all because of incorrect resistance. You have to be careful which ones you chose.

POST 6Original post

Some of the lights in my LED have failed but I have no idea how long they have been in there. now I am trying to decide to go back to OEM or try another LED. I really like the look of the clear on my car as it blends with the Paladio paint well.

POST 7Original post

I installed the ebay, smoked led made-in-china version 3rd brake light 2 years ago and have had no issues. I must have the lucky charm because I have replaced the side marker lights, rear tail lights and 3rd brake light with all LED and have not had a single problem.
