I am working on the assumption that the Variocam solenoid gets stuck at the higher rev setting sometimes and that causes the stall when it comes to idle shortly after.

My 996 C2 2003 sometimes throws up a P1341 code, which seems to be after the car has stalled after coming up to lights after a higher speed run. I am working on the assumption that the Variocam solenoid gets stuck at the higher rev setting sometimes and that causes the stall when it comes to idle shortly after. I do get a lumpy idle at other times. I also have a P0343 Cam position sensor code. For the solenoid, there is the timing and high lift solenoids for each bank. which is the one that is likely sticking at the higher rev setting?

So i had my motor out this winter for variocam pads and a bunch of other stuff. I had to replace the passenger side because i damaged the wire, but i should have changed both. Now u am getting a 1341 occasionally. Im about to pull the drivers side so replace the seleniod. I may just replace the hole variocam as my cam deviation on that side did not go back to 0. to answer your question u need to get a good enough scanner to read the cam deviations, durametric or foxwell 530. When u get the code u can read the numbers and see which one is bad. Also those numbers will tell u if u need pads. Better scanners can also turn them on and off individually and u can see if the motor reacts. This will yell u if they r actuating.
