Upgrading to an aftermarket caliper allows you to use cheaper pads, run with light weight two piece rotors, or stay with OE calipers (1 pc rotor or trim the pads to fit 50mm rotor).

We can develop a rear 4-pot caliper kit using 330x26 two piece rotor.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

We use a spacer to move the caliper outward in order to fit a larger rotor which will result in the pad sitting slightly above the rotor (less than 1mm).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,

http://www.racingbrake.com/Racingbra...-06-p/2178.htm
Front BBK for upgrade to 997 350x34 mm rotors:

Rear BBK upgrade to 997 350x28mm rotors:
https://www.racingbrake.com/ProductD...uctCode=2180-K
In addition, we also offer the complete caliper rebuilt kit (seal, high temperature dust boots, stainless steel pistons) for your calipers:
http://www.racingbrake.com/category-s/7069.htm
We make more stock replacement two piece rotors than all the competitions combined. RB brakes are "track worthy" and widely tracked by GT-R, Corvette Z06, EVO, STi, RX7 and other popular motorsports communities.
All parts/kits are in stock for prompt shipment. Please go over our offer and feel free to let us know if you have any questions and we look forward to serving your braking needs.
Your webpage shows two front disc options for a 996, but no rear options. Since you posted in the 996 NA forum, not the 996T forum, please list the options that are compatible with our cars. i.e. 996 C2 & 996 C4. thanks
Two rotor options available for the front:
318x28mm 2-pc rotor
(for stock replacement)
330x28mm OE caliper BBK
(oversized rotors w/spacers for OE calipers)
Rear rotors are not available at this time.
Does anyone know if the 330mm rotor kit will clear all OEM 18" wheels?
Also can you tell us about brake pads that come with the kit?(aggressive compound, fade characteristics, initial cold bite, squeaking, brake dust, etc)
330mm rotor kit normally requires 17" wheels, so radially we are certain it will clear 18" wheels. The kit comes with our best ET500 performance street pads. It's a low dust and no squeak compounds that's one of the most favorable compound in EVO community, and other European cars like BMW and MB.
Here is a most recent testimonial by an SL550 (2013 model) owner:
Racing Brake makes me happy
These ET street pads never had issue/concern on initial cold bite.
We also offer other grade:
XT series; for Auto Crossing and HPDE
XR series: for Racing applications
Currently we only stock ET (performance street) for your application, but XT and XR can be made available.
If you are looking for a racing pad, our recent release of XR is the best for you to try. This is a compound tested by Z06 and Viper ACR-X with excellent result.

All our pads are guaranteed to perform as we advertised, and it will be the best companion to our two piece rotors.
Although it can be made available but now open slots is the standard of our disc finish.
Most track people prefer "surface slots" while street people like "drills", so we introduced this
patented "open slots"
finish that both can agree with.

I agree.
Can you use stock 996 brake pads with the 330 kit and if so, is there an option of just getting the 330 kit minus the ET pads?
Also, does the swept area cover the entire 330 rotor?
I do like the ~4lb weight savings per corner. Coupled to lightweight wheels, this should really be noticeable.
Stock pads can be used with the 330 kit.
ET pads are included to guarantee performance and fitment.
If more aggressive pads are needed for HPDE or racing applications just let us know so we can look into making those options available.
We use a spacer to move the caliper outward in order to fit a larger rotor which will result in the pad sitting slightly above the rotor (less than 1mm).
Here is a picture of how the pad and rotor line up after installation:
If I was not selling my car I would definitely be going for this.
Now if someone could just do a rear 2 piece rotors for a decent price that'd be great
We can look into making it available if enough people are interested.
Is anyone able to confirm that 298x24mm is the rotor size used for 996 NA models?
Absent disabling the anti-lock system, or at least modifying it in some way, just how do you propose increasing the braking performance in a manner that doesn't also increase the ABS "attack" rate?
To go with our front two piece
, we decided to make two piece for the rear (330x28) with the pad be trimmed to 50mm to fit.
The same modification (pad trim) was offered for E46 M3 (328x22) rear two piece:
http://www.racingbrake.com/M3-E46-Co...-06-p/2103.htm
Our two piece rotor is expected to save about 4 lbs per rotor or 8 lbs per axle based the OE weight of 20.2 lbs or 20% wt reduction.
Front and rear two piece rotors can save you about 16 lbs for 4 corners.
These
RB two piece rotors are made for track duty
and are excellent option for stock replacement or upgrade.
RB rear two piece rotors are true light weight performance rotors featuring our exclusive iron sleeve drum brake - Light weight yet does not compromise the integrity of OE emergency brake.
We can develop a rear 4-pot caliper kit using 330x26 two piece rotor. The rotor will have an estimated weight of 15 lbs (Incl. Emergency brake), v.s OE's 20.5 lbs.
This rotor ring has 50mm friction width and will fit the brake pad (D647, same as for Subaru WRX) perfectly. The caliper has an open top feature for quick pad change as we presented in the 991 GT3 section.
Upgrading to an aftermarket caliper allows you to use cheaper pads, run with light weight two piece rotors, or stay with OE calipers (1 pc rotor or trim the pads to fit 50mm rotor).
