Every once in awhile I hope to help some poor soul not get raked over the "INDY recommended fix" to their perfectly fine 996.

That's why I do all of my own painting, it occupies my mind and serves as a creative outlet, but mostly because doing it myself saves money to use for other things, like donating to the local food bank and providing the nursing home my mother is in with uplifting spiritual reading material.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

should the owner DIY or take it to a dealer? Or...do DIY owners have more technical problems than the mindless masses who simply take it to their dealer on schedule and never look back or wonder why? And where does that put the non DIY who takes the car to the Indie every other week for an opinion on this noise or that? Do 996 owners as an overall group suffer a high rate of automotive hypochondria?

POST 2Original post

We simply hope the car falls on the owner and the senseless obsession with self and car ends.

POST 4Original post

E. We have a great support system of DIY Tech Articles that seems to help keep the DIY'er afloat with their repairs. Definitely E. -Luccia

POST 5Original post

Is there a serious question here, or is this the John Ireland nonsense thread of the day?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is it my nonsense of the day to avoid doing something-else because I'm stuck in my condo and surrounded by painters. Normally I'd just go for a drive but this remodel stuff has been going on for a month and I'm losing it. Thank you for your compassion.

I feel for you.......... That's why I do all of my own painting, it occupies my mind and serves as a creative outlet, but mostly because doing it myself saves money to use for other things, like donating to the local food bank and providing the nursing home my mother is in with uplifting spiritual reading material. Try not to offer the painters any drink or smoke and they should be out of there in no time.

Along the same line of crazy questions is this. IF A MAN SPEAKS IN THE FOREST AND A WOMAN HEARS HIM, IS HE STILL WRONG?

I think you already know the answer to that question Dave Alan

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 12262438

In my experience, we are much more obsessed with fixing parts that aren't broken, albeit some of those may be entirely justified. I'm not sure hypochondria is involved if the party in question KNOWS there's no problem but chooses to fix it anyway. Munchausen by proxy, maybe? Probably more commonly an affliction with C4S owners...*COUGH* KrazyK*COUGH*...

Yes and no. But most of it boils down to bored people on the internet shooting the ****. =)

POST 17Original post

^^^^^^Somebody call me? Guilty of shooting the breeze / surfing here on hourly work breaks. Every once in awhile I hope to help some poor soul not get raked over the "INDY recommended fix" to their perfectly fine 996. As a side not my friend called me today to tell me his car is over heating, not having free time to fix it he brought it to a local INDY. they said needs a water pump, he forks over the money and today it is still over heating. I talked him through a few things to check while on the phone. told him some things to ask the INDY about the pump, namely were you knuckle draggers just guessing water pump because it is easy and you can charge 3 hours minimum for it?

Here too, and sometimes days have more breaks than others... =)
