Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Because of everything that could happen, intermix, the coolant reservoir leaking and all other stuff, Every two drives, sometimes after every drive, I check the coolant level and I also check the oil, I rub my fingers in the oil and I also smell it, check the color.
Leading evidence: 'Run 33 percent coolant' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check color' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Seems a bit overkill in a car that is really only used on the street.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I noticed a higher then normal temp drained and repeat the fluid change and back to normal
I have a 99 996. New low T thermostat installed and Indy suggested Redline water wetter to cure hot spots. Has anyone used this product and am I able to add without draining fluid?
I've used it many times in many cars and I think it helps. The only question would be is if there are any compatibility issues with Porsche coolant or whatever coolant you are using. I don' t think there are any issues, but never hurts to check. Keeping a 996 engine cool is more important than other engines because of the cylinder design, so anything you can do on that front to control temp is worthwhile in my opinion.
Thats good stuff doubt it will add any addition protection but i have not looked into it that hard. When i was running distilled water it was a no brainer to add 2 bottles.
I just checked and it says it works with everything. I guess that's good because I've been using it for at least a decade and never thought about it until now.
With the BMWs,
I throw in a gallon of BMW coolant, a bottle of Water
Wetter
and then distilled water to bring it up to the proper level. Hopefully the coolant/water ratio is somewhere in the ballpark.
I be used it with good results on my e30 m3 for more then 12 years when I forgot to add it on a service (gal. Of bmw fluid plus distilled water to full)
I noticed a higher then normal temp drained and repeat the fluid change and back to normal
Reece I think you should read the back of the bottle it’s made to be used in street cars as well as race cars
this is an old product by a pretty good company im sure if they had any problems it would have been sued a couple of hundred times by now
My understanding is that it helps both for pure water and 50/50 mix. That's what Redline's test data indicates:

Its less then a 5* difference accross the range, not worth the effort. Also last bottle i bought was $36 but that was at the track becsuse i lost a hose clamp.
I used a lot of Redline products in my Swift DB2 racecar and was super happy with everything. The Water Wetter was perfect for racing with no anti-freeze as it contains some anti-corrosion compounds and our engine was cast iron. No opinion on using it with a street coolant mix. Seems a bit overkill in a car that is really only used on the street.
I use the product. Now I run 33 percent coolant. Im in Texas so not really same temperature concern as someone in Canada. Because of everything that could happen, intermix, the coolant reservoir leaking and all other stuff, Every two drives, sometimes after every drive, I check the coolant level and I also check the oil, I rub my fingers in the oil and I also smell it, check the color. Yes I have a low temp thermostat that was installed earlier this year, and yes my radiators have been cleaned. This is super important, I got my mechanic to clean the radiators on the turbo, I taught that had never been done to that car, here is a pic. Temperature will kill our cars.
Its ok to try to clean with a shop vac with the bumper on, but youll never remove all the debris.
It's a surfactant. It lowers the surface tension for liquids.
It won't do any harm, but the 996 coolant system runs fine without it.
I remember it was big with the 944 cars as their coolant system needed a little help. The 996 really doesn't.
I dont recommend.
I have discovered from personal experience that water wetter can interact with the Porsche coolant and create what looks like intermix in your coolant tank.
wow. I put my shop vac through the bumper but I have no idea what it looks like on the upright side. My front bumper was replaced recently so I would hope that was addressed?
