Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Just performed my 3rd oil change since then - I do 'em 6mos or 3500mi.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2003 C2, man trans, 137,500mi I installed a UAOS kit in May 2021, a little over 10,000 miles ago. Just performed my 3rd oil change since then - I do 'em 6mos or 3500mi. During each of those 3 intervals, the engine required about 1/2 qt of make-up oil. There's a very slight leak somewhere, so not all that oil was "consumed". At each of these oil changes, I opened the drain valve of the UAOS catch tank, but nothing came out. Is there supposed to be oil collecting in the reservoir? Does this mean my engine has great ring-seal and oil control, or did I not connect something properly? I have no fault codes, and all OBD2 monitors have passed. (BTW: there was no problem passing CA smog check, at a STAR station, with the UAOS and an EVOM tune). Should I be questioning an otherwise positive observation?

That is absolutely "perfect".. On an engine in good health there will be little to no accumulation in the UAOS Accumulator in 3500 miles..( and it has a warning light for 'high level" ) On an engine with high mileage ( ring wear) or sees Track time there will be accumulation in the Accumulator depending on severity.. That is where the hm/XTDD option comes into play.. It automatically and continuously drains the Accumulator back to the Sump where it belongs.. And thank you VERY much for posting the California Star Passing. That question has been asked many times. I knew the UAOS would pass emission and is legal according to CARB Apendix G . But there was always a question if some knucklehead Inspector would not "know" it was Legal and cause some grief just on the "nice appearance " of the UAOS..

Nice result! Thanks for posting. Agreed with Skip that it's nice to know the smog station didn't flag the hardware or tune. I'll be coming up on the same question early next year. The place I go to cares for pretty mundane cars, so either they don't know what to look for or their risk of getting audited by CARB is really low allowing them to just plug in and look at codes and readiness. It passed last time with the IPD plenum on it (before UAOS and tune). Thanks again!
