Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

If you want to do it right, you should pull all the carpeting and padding/sound proofing out as well and get everything dried out (pull the covers off of the control boxes and use a hair dryer to get moisture out - not too hot).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After a heavy rain storm my 2002 Carrera 4 Convertible is experiencing some electrical issues. The first thing i noticed is the morning after the storm the motor for the fuel door sounded like i was constantly running. Then at some point what sounds like the door lock motors constantly "twitching". I get dash lights and all exterior lights work. The trunk release won't work as well as the engine compartment release and the car won't start. I have removed the fuse C3 which is labeled as the "Central locking/alarm system, power windows, inside lights, convertible top". Which has stopped the constant engaging of the door lock and other motors. There was quite a bit of water under the seats and carpet from and back was very wet. I have been drying it out with combination of towels, fans and damp rid. I suspect that the security module/immobilizer is fried but not sure. Any suggestions on something I might try on my own or should I just bite the bullet and take it to the shop?

POST 2Original post

The first thing you need to do is clean out your roof, & frunk drains - when these get clogged water finds its way into the cockpit (where many of the electronics are mounted under the seats). Next, get a shop vac (wet/dry) and start sucking up as much of that water as possible. Removing the seats will make this much easier. If you want to do it right, you should pull all the carpeting and padding/sound proofing out as well and get everything dried out (pull the covers off of the control boxes and use a hair dryer to get moisture out - not too hot). If you dont do it right, your going to have ongoing mold/mildew problems Good luck *** there are many posts on this exact problem - do a search to see what/how others have done (it)
