Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well shoot, while driving to work today my brake pedal went spongy, but it was still drivable. Now, after about 3 hours of being parked, I can see a puddle under the car of what is presumably brake fluid. Looks like it's leaking from the middle of the car hidden by the plastic panels. I'm guessing one of the lines that stretches from front to rear has failed. I've tried looking for diagrams, but all I can find is calipers, rotors, master cylinder, etc. I can't find a diagram that shows the full line system. Maybe there is not a specific part number, it's sold straight, and it needs to be bent to fit? Just guessing, w/o a diagram, this might be it? https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...=911&DID=13605 It's a bit strange that the reservoir still shows the fluid at the min level. I think I'll try a little drive in parking lot during lunch to see how things feel.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Another thing I thought of. Would I have problems with my clutch if I lose brake fluid?

POST 4Original post

Brake and clutch systems r seperate but use the same resi. If u felt it in the brakes then its in the brakes and do NOT drive it. I have all the hard lines form a 2000 c2 if u need something in a rush and u cant get from porsche. Tell us more about your car specifics and u can go to autoatlanta web site. They have all the pet drawings on line. http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p..._911_parts.php

I have a 2002 C4, looking at the diagrams, your 2000 parts won't work. I found them, I was confused earlier, because for some reason they're labeled vacuum lines. I'd say I need a new #1 and #8 and while I'm in there, #20 also However, that #8 crosses over the transaxle! Looks really hard to replace! How mine currently looks, I got the plastic underbody panels off just a little while ago:

POST 6Original post

They all look real bad i would do all of them. The one over the transaxle is a pita even with the trans out. Good luck.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update - I had a shop cut out the rotted sections and splice in new line. I'm sure I could have done that myself, but I don't have much free time right now.

POST 8Original post

I did the one from the mid/rear block drivers side that crosses over to the rear passenger side about two years ago nightmare is an understatement! It can be done with the transaxle in the car, but I recommend dropping it as far as possible and threading the line through from the rear passenger side. Youll have to do quite a bit of bending and snaking but it can be done - believe me.
